The RFL Disciplinary committee will be looking to increase the number of free minutes on their talk plan after considering fifty-three incidents from the weekend’s twelve Super League games.

After ploughing their way through hours of footage they settled on fourteen charges, only one of which has so far resulted in an Early Guilty Plea (EGP), although a number of others have until this morning to submit their ‘mea culpa’.

If you do have Salford’s Weller Hauraki in your Fantasy Super League team, now might be the time to think about a change, as he is the only player to be charged twice.

Round eight resulted in eight charges across three games.

The Hull derby saw three players on a charge. Mitch Allgood has received a Grade A (No further Action – 1 game suspension) for a dangerous contact on Michaels in the 72nd minute and team mate Maurice Blair has been charged with a Grade B (1-2 games) for a dangerous throw on Westerman in the fourteenth minute. Blair had the EGP available which he accepted for a one game suspension. The black and whites didn’t escape sanction and Jordan Rankin is facing a Grade A charge for a trip on Dixon in the fourth minute (NFA – 1 game).

The good doctor will be spitting feathers again as he has two key players charged and could be without both for some time. Rangi Chase is facing a Grade E charge for dangerous contact of Ferres in the 15th minute, a charge with a tariff of 4 to 8 matches while Weller Hauraki’s first charge of the weekend also comes from the game against the Giants where his high tackle on Grix in the 61st minute sees him defending a Grade C charge with a 2 to 3 game tariff.

Hauraki faces a second charge from the Easter Monday game against Wigan, this one for striking Bateman in the 68th minute (Grade B, 1 to 2 games).

Round eights three other charges all came from the Widnes v. Warrington game. Danny Tickle was charged with a Grade B (1-2) for a high tackle on O’Brien in the 59th minute, and Lloyd White faces the same tariff for a dangerous tackle on Hall in the 24th. For Warrington, Anthony England is looking at a 1 to 2 game suspension for a Grade B dangerous contact on Phelps in the 29th minute.

Mondays bad-tempered encounter between Salford Red Devils and the Wigan Warriors saw two more charges in addition to that of Hauraki. In the same incident which saw Hauraki and John Bateman sent off, Bateman was also charged with a Grade B offence (1-2) for striking Hauraki. Earlier in the game Josh Griffin was charged with ‘other contrary behaviour’ on Gelling and his Grade A offence carries a tariff of NFA to 1 game suspension.

Huddersfield’s Joe Wardle was charged with a 21st minute dangerous throw on Ben Cockayne which as a Grade B offence could see him banned for 1 to 2 games.

Finally, there were two charges from the Leeds Rhinos v. Wakefield Wildcats game. Leeds’ Stevie Ward was charged with a Grade A (NFA to 1) for a dangerous contact on Arundel in the 34th minute and Wildcat Nick Scruton for a Grade B (1 to 2) high tackle on Yates with just one minute of the game remaining.

There will have been a few sleepless nights for those offered EGP’s, but with many not having that option it will be a full car park at the committee’s sitting this evening.
