| The disciplinary panel were pretty busy as a result of the weekends Ladbrokes Challenge Cup action as they ploughed through a hours of footage to investigate thirty-nine incidents. Of the thirty-nine, ten involved players from Championship and Championship 1 teams and the remainder were Super League players.
After their deliberations just three of the offences were deemed worthy of charges and all three players will attend disciplinary meetings tonight to determine their fate.
Supporters of Saints, Catalans Dragons and Wakefield Wildcats will be the ones interested in the outcome.
Friday nights game between Saints and York City Knights proved a walk in the park for the red vee as they marched to an easy win. Jon Wilkin could be a casualty as he attends his meeting tonight charged with a grade B offence (1-2 game suspension) for a high tackle in the 57th minute on Ben Dent.
On Sunday there were charges resulting from the games between Wakefield and Leigh and Catalans and Featherstone.
In the closely fought game at Belle Vue Wakefield's Mickael Simon faces a grade B charge for a high tackle in the 35th minute on Martyn Ridyard. Simons faces a lay-off of one to two games if found guilty.
There was another humdinger of a match in the south of France where Catalans Dragons got the fright of their life from Andy Hay's Featherstone Rovers. As the result of a 'strike with the shoulder' in the 47th minute on Remy Marginet, Jeff Lima faces a grade D charge with a possible suspension of three to five games.
UPDATE: Lima received a four game suspension while Wilkin and Simon both submitted EGPs and received one game bans. |
