Champions, in all but the silverware, Hull KR, followed
their massive win against the Salford Red Devils last time out with another
seemingly straightforward game against an equally embattled Castleford Tigers
as the full house signs once again went up in east Hull.
The visitors were given a thirty-six point start on the
coupon as the Robins sought the win which would again take them four points
clear at the top with seven rounds remaining, a win for the Tigers by sixteen
or more would lift them into tenth above the Catalans Dragons who were
scheduled to play later in the afternoon.

Top against bottom sounded like the perfect recipe for a
massacre as the Salford Red Devils hosted Hull KR with most pundits asking the
question -how many. Rather than ‘who’.
A win for the Robins would re-open the four point gap over
Wigan at the top of the table, a win for the Red Devils would put them within
two points of the struggling Huddersfield Giants as they look to get themselves
off the bottom of the table and buy some extra IMG points for what looks like
it is going to be a messy end of season reckoning.
The margin on the coupon was forty-eight points with many
thinking that the bookies odds setters might have underestimated the hurt that
Kull KR were about to cause Salford.

With Wigan having been well beaten by the black and white
half of the city, Hull KR had a chance of going four points clear at the top of
the table if they could arrent back-to-back losses and get back to winning ways
against the beleaguered Catalans Dragons.
With Robins talisman Mikey Lewis back in the line-up, the
bookies didn’t give the home side much chance of springing an upset and gave
them a sixteen point start on the handicap coupon, despite home advantage.
It was the third meeting between the two sides in 2025, Hull
KR winning by a massive 68-6 a month ago and by 36-12 when they knocked the
Dragons out of the Challenge Cup on their way to lifting the trophy.

If Hull KR learned one thing from last weekends defeat
against the Rhinos it was that they would need to win the minor premiership
rather than just waiting to be crowned, and round eighteen dealt them another
test of their determination to finish top of the pile as they took on the Leigh
Leopards.
The visitors were slight favourites and were handicapped by
four points on the coupon despite being without talisman Mikey Lewis who was sitting
out a mandatory game after failing a head impact assessment against Leeds.
KR won the round five meeting by 30-0 but this was likely to
be much, much, closer.

On paper the game of the round was the Sunday afternoon
meeting at Craven Park between champions elect Hull Kingston Rovers and one of
the form sides of recent weeks, the Leeds Rhinos with both sides desperate for
the points and promising a blockbuster of a game.
The bookies made the home side clear favourites for the win
by handicapping them by ten points on the coupon as they looked to repeat their
round nine victory in Super Lague 2025, the Rhinos seeking their first win over
the robins since August 2022.
It was a mouthwatering prospect for neutrals, and fans of
both sides.

The league points were not under debate in the opening round
fifteen fixture at Wheldon Road, they were heading back to Hull with the
Champions elect Hull KR with Castleford Tigers role to try and minimise the
points against column.
There bookies gave the home side an eighteen-point start on
the coupon, some recognition for their recent improvement in form as they saw their
injured stars starting to trickle back into their line-up.
KR won the opening round fixture of the 2025 season by a golden
point against tonight’s opposition and you must go back to May 2022 for the last
Castleford victory over the Robins.

Wembley Stadium was half red and white and half primrose and
blue as solid favourites Hull KR looked for their first Challenge Cup win since
the 1979-80 season as they faced an out of form Warrington Wolves looking to
emulate their 2019 victory.
The sides met just a fortnight ago in the Super League with
a massive 31-12 win, Warrington languishing in eighth place in the table while
Hull KR are clear leaders with just one loss all season.
Warrington brushed aside the challenges of Whitehaven,
Widnes, St Helens, and Leigh on their way to the final, Hull KR going past York
Knights, Oldham, Hull FC and the Catalans Dragons, the neutrals were hoping for
a close game.

The league leaders Hull KR took on St Helens in round
thirteen knowing that only a win was likely to keep them at the top of table as
Wigan Warriors kicked off at the same time against the 2025 whipping boys
Salford Red Devils needing two points to draw level.
St Helens came into the game on the back of two victories
and were looking to make it three in a row after a rocky period, the bookies
though favoured the home side and gave the visitors a six point start on the
coupon suggesting that the Robins might not have everything their own way.
Hull KR have been victorious on the last three occasions
that the sides have met including a 20-10 win in the round four match earlier
this year and you have to go back as far as August 2023 to find the last Saints
win.

In a dress rehearsal for a Wembley Cup Final clash in a
fortnight’s time, the fixture calendar threw together the Warrington Wolves and
Hull KR with the visitors looking to extend their lead at the top of the table,
the home side needing the win to lift themselves one place on the table to
eighth.
The Robins were favourites with the bookies, handicapped by
ten points on the coupon, and tipped to win as they did on the last two
meetings between the sides in 2024.
This was a chance for players to impress the coach and make
their claim for a place in the cup side for the final on the 7th
June.

It was second top against second bottom as Hull KR looked to
climb back over the Wigan Warriors into top spot while the Huddersfield Giants
knew that a second consecutive win would lift them up to four league points,
level with tenth in the table Castleford.
The visitors had a massive twenty-eight point start on the
handicap coupon, the bookies, pundits and most fans giving them little hope of
a famous Hull double within a fortnight as Luke Robinsons men looked to salvage
some pride out of a disappointing 2025 season.
In reality, the expectation was for a cricket score win for
the Robins.

Hull KR were the red-hot favourites to eliminate the Catalans
Dragons from the Challenge Cup at the semi-final stage and march on to Wembley
in a month’s time to face either the Warrington Wolves or Leigh Leopards for a
chance to finally end forty-five years of hurt and lift the famous old trophy.
It was the first meeting between the two sides in 2025, the most
recent game being the round twenty-two clash back in August 2024 which the
Robins won by the comprehensive margin of 36-4.
The bookies gave the Dragons a twelve point start on the
coupon, expecting that Hull KR would fulfil their favourites tag and make the
trip down to London in a month’s time, in front of a bumper crowd made up
mostly of KR fans.

On paper the most one-sided fixture at the Magic weekend
pitted the lead leaders Hull KR against the side struggling against adversity in
the embattled Salford Red Devils who are just keeping their nose ahead of
fellow strugglers the Huddersfield Giants.
The bookies thought that there could only be one winner and
there was the chance for any risk-taking Salford fan to make a small fortune at 80/1 if
they backed their own side to upset the Champions elect.
The Robins won the round three game between the two sides by
a massive 42-0, and you have to back to round three in 2024, four games ago, to
find the last time that Salford picked up the points.

Round 9 of Super League XXX meant that it was the Leeds
Rhinos turn to try and displace the league leaders Hull KR as the Robins looked
to ensure that they stayed at the top of the pile, whatever happened elsewhere
in the round.
A win for the Rhinos would put them up to third in the table
and open the door to Wigan to finish the round above Hull KR, but should the
points go back to East Hull then the Red & White’s would be four points
clear of the Warriors in top spot.
Hull KR were the favourites for the win, but they had only
been handicapped by four points on the coupon against the continually improving
Rhinos, the bookmakers and pundits alike were not sure that the league leaders
would have it all their own way.

The hottest ticket of the Good Friday Rivals Round was
undoubtedly for the Hull derby as the top two sides in Super League met in a
round eight encounter with the top position in the table up for grabs between the
fiercest of opponents.
The full house notices had been printed a week ago as the
MKM became a sea of black, red and white and a cacophony of sound welcomed the
gladiators to the arena.
The visitors were the favourites with the bookies and were
handicapped by ten points on the coupon as they looked to repeat their victory
of a fortnight ago when they eliminated the Black & Whites at the quarter
final stages of the Challenge Cup.

A Grand Final rematch between the only unbeaten side in 2025,
against the defending Champions pitted Hull Kingston Rovers against the Wigan
Warriors at Craven Park in a much anticipated encounter, on paper the highlight
of round seven.
The home side were without injured talisman Mikey Lewis but
had a more than able stand-in with Jez Litten named in the starting thirteen at
stand off against a very strong looking Wigan Warriors side who had been
installed as slight favourites with the bookies.
The last time that the two sides met was at Old Trafford
last October when Wigan emerged as 9-2 victors, the last time that KR got a win
was four meetings ago back in April 2024 when the Robins won by 26-10.

In a round which started with a game between the bottom two
sides, the climax was a Sunday afternoon encounter between the top two, as Hull
Kingston Rovers hosted the Leigh Leopards with the prize of leading the teams
into round six at the top of the pile being the prize on offer.
The bookies were backing the home side having given them an eight-point
handicap on the coupon, but with neither side having been beaten so far in 2025,
most neutrals were all set for a close affair and were struggling to pick a
winner.
The last time that Leigh beat their hosts was in the 2023
Challenge Cup final, Hull KR having won the five meetings since and keeping
Leigh pointless in the two Super League meetings in 2024, and you have to go
back as far as round three in 2023 to find the last Leigh victory at Craven
Park.

Starting the round as the top two, the only two
remaining one-hundred-percent sides, St Helens and Hull KR had a round four
date at the Totally Wicked Stadium with the honour of ending the weekend at the
top of the pile, the prize on offer.
St Helens were slight favourites for the win with the
bookies, handicapped six points on the coupon, but the Robins were happy to be
given the underdogs tags in a game that they will have prioritised since the
announcement of the fixture lists.
A big blow for the visitors was the loss of their kicker
Rhyse Martin who could be out for up to four months after sustaining a thigh
injury requiring surgery, but they were boosted by the return of talisman Mikey
Lewis.

Hull KR’s unbeaten start to the season was under threat as a
winless Salford Red Devils rolled into town looking to give their season a kick-start
after a tumultuous opening couple of rounds which had seen them concede one
hundred and fourteen points while registering just a single converted try.
Hull KR would spend the night at the top of the table if
they could delight their passionate supporters with another victory, and with
expectations high of another Grand Final in 2025 they would settle for nothing
less.
Both sides made a couple of lineup changes ahead of the
fixture, the most notable being the Robins loss of talisman Mikey Lewis, with
Salford hoping that they could reproduce the outcome of the round three game in
2024 when they won by 17-10.

Two sides who got their 2025 season off to winning ways in round one met in Wakefield for a round two Thursday night fixture with Hull KR being the visitors to Trinity with an important two points up for grabs and the top of the table beckoning, at least overnight.
The bookies had given Wakefield a twelve point start on the handicap coupon, respectful to the newly promoted home side while sending a clear message that the Robins were the favourites to take the win as they looked to replicate last season’s exceptional form.
The full house notices were up in Wakefield with 8,065 crammed into the stadium.

The 2025 Challenge Cup welcomed the ‘big boys’ to the competition at round three, with a money-making day for a number of smaller clubs with an opportunity to play host to the top sides in the country, but few with more than ‘a snowball’s chance in hell’ of progression into the fourth-round draw.
One of the hopefuls was York RLFC Knights whose reward for a comprehensive 72-12 win over the Keighley Cougars last weekend was a home tie against last years Grand Finalists, and on of the favourites for this seasons Super League crown, Hull Kingston Rovers.
There was a record home crowd in attendance, those from York with the hope of a cup upset, but with the fear of a cricket score in the away column.
