| Just wondering if any fans out there know what age kids can start joining teams? I want to get my young one playing as soon as he is old enough. He is only 3 now and know it won't be fir a couple of year but I like to plan ahead
Ive seen under 6 teams but I was just wondering if there are younger teams and if so what teams in the Normanton/cas area?
Thanks in advance.

| There are a few on here who will know the exact ages, but I think you can play from 6 years old. Many teams will let your kid come training if he is 5 years old. If he's three, let him carry a ball around everywhere he goes from no on to get used to it. If he has older brothers or cousins let him play with them now and get him toughened up and used to the game.
Also, don't be too disappointed if he doesn't want to live Daddies dream!

| Kids can play from the age of 6years, but as marshman says most clubs will let them train earlier. Our youngest has just turned 6, but has been joining in since before he was 5.

Oulton Raiders, next to Rothwell Sports Centre. They take them from 3 years old.

The coach, Rocky, is the same coach who coached Ryan Hudson when he was 3 years old. In my opinion, the best junior set up in Yorkshire.

I would also go with Oulton being a good place to take a child, knowing that better than other clubs, as I was involved there for a number of years as a player and a coach. It really is a great set up, with a lot of good people running it, although I'm sure there are other excellent clubs in the area who other may be able to recommend.
Rocky is a great lad, his only downfall is that he's a Wakey fan although amazingly, he's not even from around here (I believe he's from Lincolnshire), but Rocky's allegiances to Wakey are far outweighed by how good he is with kids

| most clubs will let them train from been 5 if they are 6 in that season, some clubs now run u7s although they still play against u8s a lot of the time but it helps them bond quicker with kids that they will play with for years.
has a coach its the sooner the better for me to get them started has kids that start a few years later than others often struggle and soon lose interest if they arnt getting much game time.
has marshy says dont bank on it been a sport for him even if he likes to throw a ball about and has all the replica kits its far harder to play than to watch.

| I have to agree that at Rocky is Amazing with with the little ones, Take him there now.
My step daughter started there when she was 3 and loved it, i also know alot of other Cas kids there.
But i would say that when the kids get to 6, 7, 8 they will be better off at either Cas Panthers or (cant beleive im saying this) Lock Lane. Much better development for older kids.

wash your mouth out binksy and get yourself off to confession.
no you are right their are some good coaches at lock lane as well as at the panthers but has you know its parents that ruin teams not kids and coaches.

| When i reffed at oulton few weeks ago was amazed at looking at board and who is playing where on what pitch at exactly how many teams they have..they even have stuff like u15s reserves, there set up must be amazing, ref room was massive..and in fact had diffenret room for me and the b team ref, normally if 2 games on we get lumped in same little room.
My young un plays for west bowling and i thought they had a good set up..oulton blows them away.
