Agreed – the way some folk are talking it’s a foregone conclusion that we will reach the Grand Final.

It has in 2005 when St Helens lost consecutive home play off games to Leeds and Bradford.



There is a new format this year though and unlike all the previous series there is no guaranteed 1 V 2 fixture where one or the other automatically qualifies for the GF.



That must make the possibility of either 1 or 2 missing out altogether that bit greater.

That's why they changed it.

Indeed, the year Bradford won from 3rd against a Leeds side that was by far the better team during the regular season

I hope it continues to be 1st V 2nd as often as possible in the GF (regardless of the play off format adopted) as that is what gives the regular round competition it's credibility.
