Not really though does it
I mean Wigan wernt head and shoulders above Leed in that semi were they. 4 of the 5 tries in that game came from player mistakes. I think whoever won out of us would have beaten Saints on Saturday.
BTW where does Leeds Utd come into this

| Excellent thread.
I never tire of reading certain posters stating Championships are not handed out in February, March, April, May, June, July etc but are then nowhere to be seen on the same thread when they are handed out in October.

| Wigan have looked the best organised and best coached side for most of the year. Leeds & Saints have been handicapped by injuries to key players but IMO Wigan fully deserved their Championship. I think they will be the side to beat next year again with Leeds needing to improve the most to keep in the top four.

| Agree with that assessment. I think part of the problem we've had as Leeds fans all year is the fact that we've managed to come good at the pointy end of the previous three seasons, and I think a lot of fans - myself included - assumed it would happen again. When you ignore the previous three years and just look at this year stand-alone, I'd argue we were not at all impressive, even with injuries.
This year may well go down as 'the season we had to have' as the toll of three successive championships kicked in. Looking on the positive, this may mean that the whole club is re-energised for next year.

| Wigan fan in peace.
I really think Leeds targeted the Challenge Cup this season and then when they were so poor in that final lifting for the play offs was a little too much.
Leeds would however have given Wigan a more difficult game in the final as they possess far more pace than Saints. I believe Wigan used the exact same tactics v Saints that Leeds had done in the past three Grand Finals, kick well, kick deep, knowing that Saints do not have the pace to come from their own twenty.

That's spot on.
There was a time Saints could strike from anywhere.

Dont be like that Rogusey, you are one of the more esteemed posters on here
You had that game in your pocket from 20 mins in, just by forcing "The S" to carry from deep, smashing them in the tackle and using your slowing of the PTB to perfection thus burning up vital energy. To be fair to saints though they really did bomb some gilt edged chances to get back in the game, but IMHO Wigan looked they could go go up another gear while saints looked out on thier feet.
