Despite Mick being unhappy about Nobbys involvement I can appreciate Nobby wanting to do something to help even though the timing is not good, I wouldn't be suprised to see Matt Calland turn up and help out and perhaps some other former players now retired to help with the coaching. If the bottom line is to make sure the game is played to keep the Club going and available to an investor then so be it.

The Players haven't left and they have a job to do so will need everyones support!

It's difficult to make players redundant as the thing which is 'redundant' is the job not the person. In an industrial situation they would re-define the job title before bringing someone else in, but other than calling any new head coach a manager I'm not sure how they get round that one, especially with players.

I thought you had to put everyone on consultation (on playing staff) then they would have to re apply for jobs

I suppose a few players could be made redundant as (IIRC) all that's needed for SL is a 25-man squad, so the club only needs a max of 25 players.

But, like you, I'm struggling to see how a head coach can be made redundant.

You could essentially make a head coach and his staff redundant and then bring someone else in as a director of football or something along those lines?



Still a shoddy decision though.
