| Has he done anything in any of these games? I think the idea of sticking with the same team throughout was the right one by McNamara but Chase seriously isn't good enough. Tonight we've seen the 2 best halves in the world, top quality passers, top quality steps and top kicking games - Chase cannot kick long for his life, no one has any idea what he is doing.
Surely he isn't the long term future? I'd suggest Widdop or Brough would have been a much better idea this series but it's all water under the bridge now. Who is good enough? Brough must surely be annoyed at changing from Sco to Eng and not getting selected, the brightest prospects look like Lomax and Gaskell from Saints and Widdop - is there anyone else?

| Agree Chase isn't up to scratch. I'm very concerned though if Lomax and Gaskell are the best we've got coming through to replace him..

In fairness they helped lead St Helens to the GF in an injury ravaged season.

Lomax is a real quality player tbf and has huge potential. Gaskell is not quite at that level yet but has the kicking game required. Lets hope we can produce more before the world cup

| To be honest Widdop did more in his 15minute spell than Chase or Sinfield all game. Chase was poor all game, and to be honest hasn't done anything all tournament. Sinfield's control of the game was appalling. His kicking game was average at best, but ball in hand there was nothing. Hopefully Lomax and Gaskell will mature into international players for two years time.

| I said it before and now I'll say it again,
Brough should have been at scrum half, once you've selected him there is no need to shoehorn Sinfield into the team. That allows you to play Gareth Widdop at Stand Off where he's been a revelation for Melbourne in the NRL.
The Bough/Widdop partnership is almost a perfect duplication of the Cronk/Widdop partnership that's dominated the NRL.

I feel a little uncomfortable about someone who has already played for one nation so to that end I do not like the fact Brough has played for a full member of the international board and has switched allegiance. He is a confident lad so it bothers me why he felt the need to play for and then abandon Scotland. Surely he would have got a look in for England had he waited or did he want a holiday to Aus for the last World cup?
I say if they have played for a country then they stick to that country.

What have you got against Lomax and Gaskell? Neither has played a full season at first grade yet (and Lomax had never played at 7 before 2011) but Lomax still got Young Player of the Year award so presumably he showed some talent!
Gaskell has pulled off some beauties in terms of his kicking but is still raw and needs time. There could be other halves out there too but they will all be in the same position because we have no halves out there who are older than them but capable of playing at international level.
More teams need to focus on bringing young players through in our key positions rather than doing what Wigan have done yet again and importing to the backline. There will be centres, wingers and halfbacks out there but only a few teams are bringing them through at present.
