So the fact that they were a) young; b) played in Cas's academy before they played first team, doesn't make them Cas academy players.



What you really mean to say is that their rugby education has been split between clubs but even so Cas would get the majority of the credit, not the other club. It's like you trying to claim Gledhill as your own in reality. He did play for Cas but he'll be known as a Wakefield youth graduate no doubt, ditto Liam Watts at KR.

Its' surprising how many people are in the know on these forums, especially when they can't prove the claims they make. If a company was going to pay a record sponsorship for SL I don't think they would be going to a club like Cas to splash the dosh. I would go to a bigger club with a higher profile, at the end of the day you are paying top £s so you want a big exposure. My cynicism of Castleford particularly Dicky Wright comes from reading his never ending press statements claiming this and that is going to happen but never does. Remember the Oct 2008 completion date for the stadium?

Gledhill is recognised by me and most other Trinty fans as a Cas junior that got away, to Wakefields benefit.



Westerman and Owen are not Castleford Academy products no matter how you want to spin it, Like I said credit to Cas for bringing them through to 1st team football but don't try and claim them as Cas juniors.

And you're entitled to that view and people will agree. Even I agree that some of the stuff released has been highly ambitious at times.



However, that is not necessarily what we were discussing. The information I receive about Cas does not come from RW the majority of the time but other sources. After all, information is often leaked somehow otherwise how would we know about players signing in advance etc. I have already stated I have no "physical" evidence to support it but I do trust the people I speak to.



Most major clubs already have sponsors and Cas are likely to be in the news a lot this season what with licensing, the stadium etc - it's an ideal time for any ambitious business looking for some publicity to invest in a side.

I think the RFL would view it differently. Otherwise, why would they be homegrown players?

Not me arguing mate. I'm just going by the RFL's viewing of homegrown players. Owen has played for Cas for three years under the age of 21. That makes him homegrown, ditto Westerman.

So Joe Westerman has been on scholarship/academy at Fev,Wakey and Cas ?

Fair comment - what I generally do is butt in when I have some relevant information - if I don't, then I tend not to get involved. The same goes if I think that my comments will inflame an issue - particularly on our board.



I have had dealings with Fully, and I agree with your general sumising, it just appears at times ..... well, it doesn't matter really - he supports his club and that's fair do's!

It comes down to both clubs being nervous regarding the upcoming franchises so we seize upon any 'good' news that comes from our respective clubs and are equally as quick to denounce any 'bad' news. Of course, both sets of fans have their WUM's but if you ignore them, they soon get bored

If figures are never released then how do you know your deals are extremely good and not to put too finer point on it how on earth do you know that your extremely good deals rival that of some of the top teams?
