I am staying at the holiday inn media city on the saturday, booked it soon as dates were announced.
to be honest, nice hotels in the city centre are expensive pretty much every weekend in manchester due to the football fans who travel.

Just booked Jurys Hotel as saw offer for 130 quid for the fri and sat night inc bed and breakfast. Is a bit out of town away from the stadium but can get tram into city centre and get transport from there. Stayed there a number of years ago and was half decent hotel.

Don't confuse increasing prices with just charging full room rate, neither Cardiff nor Edinburgh increased charges for rooms during MM they just charged the full rate for the room, you'd hardly expect them to offer discounts when they were going to be busy would you.
Also the date and venue has been known for ages, your window to book budget rooms is well past, don't blame hoteliers for that. |

Anyone wanting somewhere a little bit 'posher'... I did 3 nights at the Macdonald Hotel this week, fantastic hotel with a great restaurant. Right next to Manc Picc station and not far from COM. Also, Sapporo Tepinkyaki is the best place to eat out in Manchester. Just brilliant!
