Anti-siphoning laws only apply to games involving the senior Australian team but they don't apply here anyhow because 7MATE is a free-to-air broadcasting channel which has secured the rights ahead of any Pay TV networks. The Seven Network has also announced that all WC games shall be televised on it's minority 7MATE channel.
Despite RLWC2013 Tournament Director Nigel Wood and his compellingly overblown statement that [url=http://au.sports.yahoo.com/league/news/article/-/17714580/seven-secures-rugby-league-world-cup-2013/"The tournament now has a compelling broadcast offer in both hemispheres"[/url, it's rather disturbing news IMO that all WC games in Australia are to be shown on a minority interest blokes channel, whilst in the UK, they are all to be shown on the minority interest Premier Sports, apart from a handful of England games and the final to be shown on the BBC. Add in the lack of WC sponsorship thus far and it's clear we have fools running the operation. |
