| Quote Slugger McBatt="Slugger McBatt"There are two main points:
1. The part about insisting on standing up struck me as something that Leeds United do. I've seen those two-celled half-wits do it. That's why I raised it.
2.Football fans are inferior to rugby fans, because they follow an inferior game, cry too much, and can only hunt in packs.'"
Lol!
You sound like one of those bitters who loses sleep over footballs popularity. It must kill you mustn't it?
Agree with the guy who said that this is a "people" problem...not a code problem. Any sort of fighting at League is a football problem? What nonsense. Meanwhile the majority of football fans couldn't give two s**** about league, and now the bad elements are supposedly invading rugby league stadiums? Lol, okay...

| Quote sally cinnamon="sally cinnamon"There were loads of Leeds fans dotted around the Wire end and there was no trouble with them, just in that one pocket where it looked like some blokes were acting provocatively and throwing beer. Most people go as couples or families and are no bother, when you get groups of lads who are acting as though they are on a stag party then there's the potential for trouble, there were a few well meaning but completely off their heads Wire fans who were a bit annoying so I can imagine when they met their equivalents from Leeds in a bad mood there was the potential for a bit of handbags.'"
Seen it happen before at finals, CC and GF, and I've seen it on trips to Perpignan too - I posted something about it on southstander.com last week - its the "Fekkwit Alchoholic Working Mens Club Trip" effect, put a group of males together on a bus trip to somewhere and they will start drinking before they get on the bus, so thats 6am then - hardly surprising that by kick off time most of them don't give a fekk about the game or those seated around them.
I sat on the row behind such an outing at the 2005 CC final where twenty or thirty of them wouldn't sit down at all, it ended in a fight too because the stewards wouldn't take 80 minutes worth of complaints from other people on board.
And still we try and pretend that RL is a family sport - don't make me laugh.

Yep and jealousy!
I don't see many issues down at Belle Vue these days with mixed terracing apart from when Wigan and Cas visit but personally speaking it's time all grounds had away ends.

| It's actually a bit of a joke that rugby league is called a family sport. Some of the language used in some of the songs is outrageous. Yet we want kids to be at the game?
It must happen up north too, but when we had teams visit wales all we hear all match is (sheep shaggers and general abuse towards the welsh.) I know when hull fc came to south wales last year, all their songs were aimed at Hull KR, which i couldn't really understand. Not to mention the trouble that was caused.
Rugby league is going the way of football. It's terribly sad. They should stop with this crap about putting fans in a section of their own, and mix in with the opposition teams. It would stop the idiots that are banned from their home grounds getting together in an away end and kicking off things, making the entire travelling fans look stupid.

Can someone remind me of this glorious uptopian time when everyone went to the game, shook each others hands at the end and had a jolly good time ?
I've pretty much been to every ground in the league at one time or another and you get swearing everywhere. Name me one ground where you don't hear it ...
As for crowd trouble, do a bit of research and you'll find that 'trouble' at games goes right back to the very start of the Northern Union.

| I don't think for one minute that the small pockets of opposition supporters that you often see mingled in "the other end" at the CC and GF are there because they have deliberately bought those tickets to cause trouble, rather that organised trips often buy their tickets from the RFL quite a long time in advance before the finalists are known, there shouldn't generally be a problem with this, the problems start when you mix several hours worth of alcohol intake and the "team effect" of an adult male party together - standing in all seater stadiums is the usual spark to the flame and its just not stewarded properly.
I wouldn't want to take a young child into a stadium on a finals day when I have no clue of who is going to be sat around me.

| Please find below a copy of the post I put on the Warrington site this morning. If you think it is biased due to being a Warrington supporter then I can assure you it is not. You can trivialise events like this as just a bit of fighting if you wish but this bit of fighting ruined the day for kids and adults alike.
With regards to the trouble in the right hand corner of the Warrington end ( block 109 ) can I say that the Leeds "supporters" in that block ( approx rows 4 to 12 ) were an absolute disgrace. They were mostly in their 20s but ranged up to I'd guess 40 years old
I was sat approx 5 rows right behind them.
Can I thank them for showering my 68 year old parents with beer on at least 3 occasions ( along with their friend who came to his first game of rugby for 30 years ).
Can I thank them for offering my 68 year old dad out for a fight after he complained about the first of the beer showers.
Can I thank them for offering to fight a group of teenagers ( 13/14 year olds ) further a log the rows from them for having the temerity to applaud Warrington when they scored.
Can I thank them for the obscene gestures that we were subjected to from before the kick off until the time they actually decided that they had all had enough to drink and would mow like to start fighting with 10 minutes to go.
Can i thank them for hitting my wife with a plastic cup of beer
Can i thank them also for hitting the little girl about 5 rows above me in the face with a plastic cup of beer.
Can I thank them for reducing children around me to tears due to fear.
But can i also thank the moronic Warrington fans who rose to the bait thus ensuring a fight finally ensued.
A great day ruined. At the final hooter I didnt actually know the score because people were trying to calm everybody down.
To any Leeds fans sat down in this corner who obviously were not involved in this incident I apologise unreservedly for tarring you with the same brush as these morons. We had great banter with genuine Leeds supporters all day.
But to the group of Leeds "supporters" who instigated all the trouble.
You managed to spoil a great day out for hundreds of people. My wife will not attend another match if there is a chance that away fans could be mingled in with home fans ( ie Grand Final ). So thanks for that.
I do not want this brushed under the carpet or ignored because we won. I want the CC footage examined and I want to see the main instigators charged ( including the WArrington fans if necessary ). I want to see the people hurling the plastic pots filled with beer at people charged with assault. Any chance. NO.
Another solution ??
