What does Andy Lynch need to do to get a cap? He is a step above Griffin and Fielden over the course of the year. Why take Clubb and not a player like Lee Smith who can cover us at FB, Centre and Wing?'"
Lee Smith is out. He's due to have an ankle opp. Lynch isn't in probably because he couldn't be d again.

| no real experience in the half backs seems to be the major problem to me. Puts a lot of pressure on someone either with little international experience, or on Roby to step up and take control around the ruck - which isnt really his game. Having said that, Tomkins did ok last year in the 4N - so maybe he can take it up another level.
plenty of youth in there - which should be a good thing, youthful exuberance and no fear against playing the Aussies hopefully.
The lack of a goal kicker is a major problem. You cant rely on Westwood, who wont be on the field for the full 80mins.

As a 40 year old who has been watching rugby league since the early 80's that is the worst Australian squad I have seen (and whatever the result of the 4 Nations, it will remain so)
There are some very good players in there and some real average players too... in the past, the Australian squad was brimming with talent

This is a squad without Greg Inglis, Johnathan Thurston, Justin Hodges, Michael Jennings, Josh Morris, Trent Waterhouse, and a few more. For equivalence, take the 1986 Kangaroos without Sterling, Meninga, Miles, Shearer, Sironen.
The strengh in depth they have in the backs is extraordinary, and even without the above-named, their 1-7 will be extremely strong. The forwards, less so.

| I love some of the complete fekwit statements from people on this thread, who are making statements based on perhaps one or two games that they may have seen months ago regarding some players.
Everyone in is there on form and to provide something to the squad.
Gone are the days of picking 13 loose forwards, or playing every man and his dog out of positions.
Cudjoe - Wing, centre, fullback and goalkicker
Lunt - has that same magic trick that Cunningham had next to the line, you know its coming, try and stop it.
Griffin - Huddersfields best forward all season
Robinson - a revelation at hooker, and able to tackle anyone one on one, decent kicking game from dummy half too and can bring some unpredictablilty to the game
Brown - The real lynchpin in Huddersfields game, perhaps the most underrated stand off in the English game.
Crabtree - Playoffs have brought out the best in him again.

L Cudjoe
T Briscoe

K Brown
S Tomkins
My preference would have been Tomkins at FB. However due to the lack of HB in the squad, he will have to play there. Im also not sure why Shenton seems to be an automatic pick, he's a good player but IMO Briscoe is a superb player and will be better used in the centres. Cudjoe deserves his chance on the wing.
A Morley
J Roby
J Graham
G Ellis
S Burgess
B Harrison
That pack can match any in the world. I'd not pick Westwood. He can be a bit of a liability in terms of penalties. Widdop is a more than adequate goalkicker.
L Robinson
J Tomkins
S Fielden
E Crabtree

| great news for the club and for those 6 guys.
it is testament to the sheer hard work our club have done over the last few years, when you think that 2 of them have come through our academy, 2 were deemed surplus to requirements at the current sl and have improved no end under our tutelage,1 was playing in national league 2, 2 years and the other was a player even wakefield fans were glad to see the back of!
to think that our "crappy little club" now provides more players for the national squad than any of the big, successful clubs is something all huddersfield fans should be proud of.

OK, I will
Sterling would have been replaced by Des Hasler or Greg Alexander (I think Steve Mortimer had retired from international rugby by then)
Shearer was one of the wingers on the '86 tour (with Michael O'Connor and Les Kiss) but Eric Grothe was left at home due to injury
Mal Meninga played sub or second row for the '86 ashes series as Bret Kenny and Gene Miles were the centres. Kenny himself was kept away from his preferred stand-off position by the legend that was Wally lewis
Sironen could have been replaced in the line up by any of Bob Linder, Noel Cleal or Steve Folkes (remember that Wayne Pearce was ruled out of this tour with injury)
Are the 2010 Kangaroo squad really of this standard?

so you wouldn't be proud if 6 of your clubs' players were chosen to represent their country, 3 of which had played for your academy?
