you would expect the fullback of a team on the backfoot for most of the match to have the ball a fair bit.



not sure how you think those stats show how tomkins had a good game... he was the 8th lowest meters per carry on the pitch.

Never read much into metres per carry for pivot players - Sinfield often has the lowest MPC for Leeds for example.



Those stats show the player accused of spending most of the game hiding made more carries than any other back, and made the third highest number of carries out of all 34 players. He also made 300% the number of tackle busts of his nearest competitor.

No he just play acts and pretends he has been shot whenever anyone comes within ten feet of him after he has kicked the ball.

I think the point was Richie that carries figures for full-backs are often distorted, as they'll be bringing the ball back from kick returns adding carries and metres particularly if the opposition have the bulk of possession. If he picks up a kick two metres from his line, crawls forward a yard and gets tackled, that'll go down as a carry.

I thought he'd spent the game hiding letting his wingers do all those kick returns?

It's a bit difficult -and trust me, in my occasional forays into the full-back role I've tried - to get out of the way of every kick that comes in your direction

no denying Briers can get opposition fans backs up with some of his antics.... however those are a million miles away from being a cheap shot merchant.
