I was in eccles today and was speaking to a few people they seem to think that john wilkinson is ready to walk away from the club as anyone else heard anything on this. It would not suprise me if he did he as given everything to this club and had no real reward for what he as done. anyone clarify on this. As it will jepordise the clubs future in its self.

He has always said he would make way for a youger man with financial clout but there isnt a queue of them sadly.

Yes talking to him at the meeting i got the impression he wont be here much longer, he said he is 65 and that he will not be around forever and he wants to enjoy his life now he also said he has done evreything he wanted to do with salford apart from the stadium which i feel is the only reason for him still being at the club now.

What with the crowds,performances on the pitch,constant let downs on the stadium plans I would not blame him for walking away.

It is looking very bleak at present for SRRLFC.

John Wilkinson cant just "walk away" from Salford.Hes the one holding the "hot potato" and unless he can sell it to somebody else,he is stuck with it!

Of course he can - however if he did then the company just goes into receivership!



He stated a few years back that if a buyer came along he'd sell - and if I remember correctly would sell for virtually nothing, but the buyer would have to take on the debts and therein lies the problem

No matter how much money he has put in what has he achieved with the club. Wehaven't won a single thing of any worth. 25 years of broken promises and shattered dreams.



Snape put his own money in and delivered the championship a Wembley appearance and a team full of internationals who went to australia and WON the Ashes.



As mesiahs go JW is very much an amateur!!!!!

Not a case of what he could have done differently , but which other clubs have ' won ' anything in the last 25 years ?



Only Saints , Leeds , W1g4n and Bradford with 1 CC win for Hull in recent years



John Wilkinson has kept your club alive , and given the state overall of RL in the last few years that is a massive achievement

You are right about that! So why the hell does anybody else bother turning up to watch. Pardon me for pointing out the failings of us and other clubs but as I said in another thread Brian Snape took this club from obscurity to the very top. Why can't that happen again. The fact remains for all his endeavours JW has failed to do so. How many coaches has he sacked for the same failing.



Time for the book to stop!
