Bilkos' preview was spot and fully examplified by todays game. Your defence is very good. Shaun McRae has got that aspect of your game spot on. It's been very good all season if you break down each game. I think we showed you maximum respect when we went for the two late on in the match.



However your attack is letting you down. You lack ideas which is a shame because you had a good kicking game I thought today. You built pressure, yet I never felt worried about losing because you never looked like scoring. I was surprised you didn't resort to taking the two a few more times in the opening half hour.



Things are certainly looking a bit more positive for Salford this season.

IF we would of bought Goulding off you at the end of the season and had him on instead of Tyrer we would of probably stopped your two tries on the wing, Tyrer is one of the poorest players Ive seen at defending but hes pretty good going forward, thought we played well and gave you a battle, not sure whats happen lately to be honest but Mcrea has suddenly got our troops firing! The ref was poor for both teams though, but your first try was seriously forward, ref missed alot of interferences for both teams and he was gifting penalties for nothing and when there was a penalty for each team he never gave it, hes the worse of the lot!

Today was the best any team has defended against us all season. What we've been very good at is sucking teams into the middle and moving the ball very quickly and accurately out wide.



Salford today held their width defensively very well, and scrambled when Sam did you up the middle. A really gritty performance from your players today. Phil Leului showed how to beat the three man tackle, great coaching from McRea.

What was the crowd? Looked nice and healthy

It's up to the players to play like that every week now. I thought you looked sharp defensively, but maybe lacked a little bit of direction in attack. Your sliding defence was pretty much spot on.

other than losing to bratfud,i would like to know off some pie fans if they have had a tougher game so far this season!?our defence looked solid and thought we gave it em quite well up the middle to(think it was riddel who come off a bit worse for wear in one big hit!)like mentioned we just lack a few creative attacking ideas,kicking game has really improved over last few weeks(one bad attacking kicktoday i think),ima big fan of ste tyrer,but he is deffo the weakness in our backline which most oppostion keep finding!

I like Tyrer when he has ball in hand, not so much when the opposition has it and he has to defend. He's made some gaffes this season, knocking on after kicks on the 5th tackle under little to no pressure and today when he left the ball to go out for a 40-20.



On the flipside, we've seen him set up a try against Hull that people would be salivating over should it have been someone like Greg Inglis setting it up, we've seen him go the length of the field against Huddersfield and the guy has the ability to sometimes put defenders on their backside by running with power.

If it hadn't been the busy easter week then that game would have been a blinder. Sadly both teams were shattered and loads of dropped ball made for a very scrappy game. Your long kicking game was superb and you're defence was very impressive. I expected the fatigue would lead to a try fest because of weak defences but it took its toll on attack instead.

I'm just pleased to have the hard fought win though.

Defended really well and your kicking game was superb. You will be in the top 10 if you play like that all season! No wooden spoons for Salford! Maybe even top 8.

I was at both games (Bradford and today) and to be honest I don't think the Bradford game was harder. We simply put the cue on the rack at half time and couldn't get started again. We were 20-nil up at half time. Could you see us being 20-nil up against you today? You defended really well and gained good yardage off the back of Ratchford's excellent kicking game. Maybe the fact that both sides were oviously fatigued was a bit of a leveller in that we didn't finish moves that we've been running in for fun in previous games, but that could equally be put down to a very disciplined defensive line. Credit to McCrae as well as the players for that.



Anyway, well done on a gutsy performance. As others have said, a bit more flair and creativity in attack and the season could well turn out to be a good one for Salford. You're certainly not out of contention for the 8 by any means.

Interesting coments from the Pie fans - personally I'm a bit skeptical about top 10, let alone top 8 - but (say it very quietly) - there has been a gradual turn-around with the team - the Hull & Hudds results weren't flukes, and today's performance was sound defensively even if we lacked enough ideas in attack - we need to see the Reds turning over a few sides around us in the table - Cas in a fortnight would do nicely please!
