I think Smith is steadily growing, but has to earn his spot. Ratchford at the moment is playing excellent and so should keep his place. It's all about consistency, if players perform to their ability they keep the shirt, simple as.
Hopefully we will see the best of both of them on the run-in to seasons end.

| Many people on here have said in the past put Ratchford in his best position and see what he can do, including myself.
He has a better kicking game than Smith, tackles better and FWIW links up better with Myler.
Then again I am not the coach and I fully expect him to be put back out on the wing in the not to distant future  |

| I can fully understand head coach McRae wanting to have Smith in the starting 13 each week but it's clear to see Smith can only play at 6 or 7
So it would not suprise me one bit if Stefan Ratchford could find himself playing at full-back in the odd game this season.
In Stefan Ratchford we have the kind of player who can if need be play in every back position but of course I would rather see him playing at stand-off for the rest of the season along with Myler, but that's up to our coach to sort out and not me.
The main thing is in my opinion is to get these two very good future prospects signed up on long term contracts just like the Leeds Rhinos did with there half-backs on 5 year deals a while back.
COME ON SALFORD PAY UP AND REWARD RATHFORD & MYLER NOW
THESE TWO YOUNG PLAYER ARE WITHOUT DOUBT OUR FUTURE..

| Ratchford by far, I don't see how Mcrae can have a selection headache over it. Its not as if its a difficult decision is it?? Ratchford has been playing well the team on the whole have been playing well Ratchfords been MOM in the last two super league games. Why even think about changing it??  |

We must keep the winning team together at all costs. Earlier this season we were all despondent over a team with no grit, determination or cohesion. At the moment we have that and it's our half back pairing which are helping provide the platform behind this. IMO Ratchford offers us more options than Smith in both attack and even more in defence. It'll be a travesty if he's removed to make way for Smith. If McRae does bring Smith back in it just shows we have another spineless coach who panders to his "big" signings needs by picking name over form. Which would be in no way acceptable.'"
