| "Our issue is that most of it has been wasted on players who don't fit the bill. "
I bet that in 25+ years many many players did fit the bill. Please list all players in this period and your views on each.
Or do you ignore facts for debate?

| Star Bug. Are you going to continue to just insult me? I have put forward a reasoned arguement having formed an opinion based on many years of watching Salford week in and week out. I have also observed the club from the inside as a player at academy level.
So far all you have said is that JW has kept us afloat with his money and insulted me for having my opinion. Just because it is at odds with yours doesn't make me an idiot. Now if all you want to do is deal in insults I suggest you go back to your own forum!!!!
Hillbilly red: I will gladly debate the merits of the players we have had over the last 25 years. There have been some fantastic players at the Willows during that time. However, I'm sure everyone would agree that we have thrown money away on a number of imports who simply weren't good enough and players who had had their day.
The current squad is a case in point: J. Smith, R. Paul, R. Cashmere, W Talau to name but 4. go back through the years and you will find our squad littered with those kinds of player. Anyone who says that's down to the coach, the final say go's to the man with the money doesn't it???

| When Snape sold to Wilky the club were going downhill fast both on and off the field, in its hayday the variety centre was the top caberet nightspot in the UK bringing in money to fund the team on the park. Unfortunately wilky did not have that luxury because Snape had sold that to Greenhalls brewery.
Wilky did bring big name players here Garry Jack was world player of the year when we signed him. As for signing ex-internationals how many players have left to become internationals and look whats happening now.
Look at Wigan if it were not for Dave Whelan needing planning permission for his new football ground Wigan would no longer be in business. 18000 crowds on average and still ended £4m in debt before selling up to Tescos.
All top clubs except Leeds which is a city 4 times the size of Salford make a loss each year despite the Salary Cap.
We can not bring in the money other clubs do from advertising because we are hardly ever on TV and this has been the state all the time we have been in Super League.
The only way to get money in is by getting people through the door, unfortunatey most people in Salford are apathetic and if it means effort will not bother. We are not a Rugby city we are not a Football city we are a can't be bothered city and until that changes Salford do not deserve a place in Super League and has a fan of 42 years I am now facing the truth I had tried to hide and that hurts.
As for getting to Wembley was it Wilky's fault that Cousins was offside or Naylor tried to run through the fullback instead of passing against Sheffield NO, so close yet so far.
Wilky's big problem is he listens to others and takes their advice, without him we would just not be here now, look at Swinton playing like nomads but have a bigger supporter membership than Forever Reds see apathy again. It is up to us to not the chairman to get into the ground and support the team, it does help if we are winning I know but Wilkys investments over the years have not been matched by the fans.
But I do feel we now need to look for a plan B and possibly life outside Super League and ensure that the Rugby League respects the work done by NL clubs in developing players and ensure tha Super League Clubs pay the going rate for the talent they are buying and so supporting lower league rugby.

Good. I hoped we'd stopped being a retirement home. I'd much rather sign future internationals than ex-ones. Maybe people would have been happy for us to have signed Paul Sculthorpe for this season, or maybe you'll be pleased to sign Briers for next season as signing ex-internationals is clearly a sign of progress.

By the way - Jeremy Smith is an ex-Kiwi international.[/size

| I think it is fair that Wilkinson has done a lot for the club over the years, but it should also be remembered that he has received a huge amount, from his associations with the club that will have undoubtedly helped him in his other dealings.
I remember Mr Wilkinson himself telling the fans at club function just before we signed Richard Webster that the Variety Centre was back in the clubs hands and would therefore provide finance. Some years later I am told the Variety centre is owned by Mr Wilkinson’s wife and if that is the case, when I buy a pre match pint does any money going to the club? I also recall another rumour that when Mr Wilkinson was happy to sell the Salford City Reds approx 5-6 years ago, the Variety Centre was not part of the deal. Does anyone know if there is any truth in this?
It is my belief that those who are in power in terms of decision making and day to day running are so fixated on this “new ground” they believe it will solve all the clubs problems, the simple fact of the matter is it wont. Salford City Reds is a business and if the product in not competitive or enjoyable then people will not use it. Would you go and watch a crap films in a plush cinema? You may once or twice but you wouldn’t go every week because you going to watch a film and not sit in a comfy seat.

| 28th June - a person called Gavrillo Princip sets out to remove a leader and accidentally was able to - result millions of dead.
It is easy to remove a leader or cause a board to resign - what happens afterwards is rarely what those, who were critical enough to force that change, expect.
What is the alternative?
Actually we need one as I doubt that Mr Wilkinson nor I will be around in the late 2010s for a reattempt on SuperLeague.

| Gavrilo Princip assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914 with a lucky shot and being in the wrong place at the wrong time, which led ultimately to the First World War in case anybody was wondering.
And the peace deal signed at the end of the First World War was part of the reasons of the Second World War.
Hundreds of millions killed because a driver was not given the right directions and took a wrong turn.

| I am completely amazed at how lax the club seem to be witht his stadium, it seems to be shrinking every time we hear something, soon there will be nothing left i fear. Sorry but I think were in a hell of a lot of trouble. Were still a yo yo club with a turd stadium and a dwindling fan base, sorry but I for one think its time we stop accepting being Mr Wilkinsons toy thing and start trying to be a top rugby club again. Aim High don't accept being poor and average just happy with our existence, what kind of club is that?
