| Quote just_browny="just_browny"If you're injured - and I think he is - you will continue to be injured if you keep playing. If anything you'll make it worse.
Getting him matchfit ready for Keighley and Castleford isn't the priority. The priority is making sure the injury has gone away and then using those games to get him match-fit for bigger games to come.'"
Give him a break and get him right. Same goes for Hodgson who looks broken every time he's tackled.

| He's not match fit because of his 2 shoulder operations he had pre season. We went out to Aus to get fit and train in the heat and he sat out of most of the training because he was recovering. The start of the season is like his pre season. He'll come good, just like the rest of the team will. We'll have good and bad spells. This one is a bad one, we'll grow out of it and learn. Have faith.

It looked like he was rushed back from his latest op due to Higham's ban. He managed about 30 minutes in his first spell against Wakefield and looked absolutely knackered when he came off. He still doesn't look fully up to speed and if he needs a few games off to get right it must be better to do it now rather than later in the season.
I think Hodgson always looks like that, even when he's fully fit.

| I've said before on other threads, our pack have very little 'go forward' in them at the moment. Our pack at its best last year was steaming onto the ball, knocking down the opposition and getting away quick, free-armed offloads. At the moment, our players are running into the collision, getting wrapped up, held up and being slowed down dramatically. Smith said after the London game that it took us a while to adjust because the ref was allowing such a slow game, it's continued into every game. It doesn't help having some of your best forwards looking to get rid of the ball at every opportunity instead of trying to make more metres.
Once our forwards start playing the ball quicker, like Saints done against us in the first half, Monaghan will be able to work on the back of some proper go forward. We've started every game slowly and it feels like most of the lads are working their way into games, as soon as we start hitting our stride early, I imagine all of the confidence will come flowing back and we'll start dominating like last year.

It's not a case of fitness, it's a case of getting him healthy fit.
Unfortunately he's had to play more rugby than planned after his ops due to Higham getting banned and Ratchford getting injured.
Personally I'd give him Easter off and go with Higham (who's impressed me in his few games this season) and let Dwyer have a chance...... It's a long season and we need players fit for September.

| It may be match time that he needs to get fit. So playing him against Widnes and then some game time in France would be just what he needs.

| Could it be that he's just not as good as you thought? Behind a dominant pack any hooker would look decent. Behind a struggling one he hasn't looked so awesome.
