I have to say i now feel a little bit sorry for Reardon. Obviously he did something that was unacceptable and cannot be condoned (not sure of the severity of the crime) but finding out that your wife is sleeping with another person would not be an easy thing to find out. One moment of madness not related to rugby and his career is seriously threatened.
And there is no punishment for having an affair despite promising in a church in front of many people that you will stay together no matter what happens.
Doesn't seem entirely fair to me.

They were separated so its not quite the same as having an affair, but we don't know the ins and outs of their relationship so perhaps its not right to judge.
Reardon deserves a clean slate, he's been tried in a fair justice system and a verdict delivered, time to move on. Few of us go through our lives without doing things we regret. |

PS: the assault charge related to three bruises he caused to his wife's arm when he momentarily grabbed her. |
