Load of rubbish IMO
Brown has employed a rushing defense, he likes his players to keep active and work hard. He also has them making more efficient tackling than the opposition.
In attack he keeps it simple with the team guided by Hodgson and Fulton.
They try to play very much an Australian style. Field position, repeat sets, apply pressure to the opposition, try and force mistakes.'"
The umbrella, rush defence is fine unless the opposition goes wide quickly and then you are stitched ............. which is exactly what we did on Saturday - and they were stitched. So where's the big "rap" for T Smith in working this out and getting the players to do it?
Simple attack - fine. But if you rely on 2 players exclusively and they are bottled up/don't deliver on the day then you have no plan B to go back too. We had a lot more players involved in the decision making and it worked, the Giants were a bit lost as to what would be happening next so their defensive "A" game was out of the window.
Field position - pressure - mistakes........... and that's it, that's the Aussies in a nutshell? I'd be seriously, seriously bored if that were the case and wouldn't bother watching.
