Tomkins is a wingeing spoiler - potentially a class rugby player, but a mard. Then, that appears to be his game from what I've seen of him. He'll need to cut out the big man stuff squaring up to his opponents - he won't always have his big brother, Mongo, there to look out for him. He'll get his clock cleaned bigtime if he keeps it up. Took King some restraint today not to swing at him - but then, maybe Tomkins was looking for him to do that. Regardless, nice to see him romp in for a try moments later swatting Tomkins off in the process.



And yes, I know rival fans will tell us we've had a scrumhalf at the club for the last dozen years who's been a mard, but he hasn't had the niggle and nastiness to him that Tomkins is showing.

Out of all the Warrington team, and not just based on today, Mathers at full back is pretty awful. He panics too much under the high ball.



He wasn't great at Wigan, he's certainly not much better at Warrington. Weird thing is, when he was at Leeds, I thought he was actually pretty good.

we actually think he is a good fullback... fair enough he has made a couple of errors lately....but i am more than happy with him.

Sam Tomkins seemed to have good energy levels, very inventive but maybe not good enough on the day. Is clearly going to be a very good attacking player but will need to work on his defense.
