| We were certainly playing in primrose and blue hoops in 1965-66 which was my first season watching. Photograps of the 1950 team have them wearing very narrow p + b hoops, whilst the four trophies in a season 1953-54 team wore the white shirts that you invariably see pictures of Brian Bevan in.

| Quote the flying biscuit="the flying biscuit"i'd be interested to see when we last wore a similar top prior to that, the predominantly white ones where much more common and much more recognisable as a wire top as far as i'm concerned.
Brian Bevan played in white with a blue and yellow V and also white with the blue and yellow band round the middle, similar to the 1986 premiership shirt Which to my mind is a classic. Alex Murphy is synonymous with the White shirt with primrose and blue V as are the 1974 and 2009 challenge cup winning teams. Andrew Johns also wore the famous White with yellow and blue V.
as for a kit that everyone can recognise describe Oldham Leigh and Wigans classic kit without using the same words...'"
That's half the problem....We have different kits for different periods - You could add Jonathan Davies in Primrose and Blue, to your list of legends in the predominantly white kits - At least with Wigan, Leigh and Oldham you actually associate a consistant colour, even if they are all the same!!
I guess my point is that we should stick to one regular pattern and colour scheme, and looking from opinions on here, that Primrose and Blue hooped effort looks quite popular

| Predominantly Primrose rather than Blue would give us more of an identity

| Thats a top shirt. I dont know why all cubs dont just go back to the retro design like Wigan have this year, its what the fans want.

| Although the '74 white shirt is my fav, maybe its the game not the shirt and tend to agree with The Flying Biscuit I also like the idea of of a shirt predominantly primrose with blue hoops but as a matter of interest when was the last shirt that featured primrose as opposed to yellow?
We have had all shades of yellow, from primary, to acid and the 70's 'W' shirt was nearly amber.
I think primrose is paler than the yellow featured on any of the shirts that I have seen but stand to be corrected

Take your hand off it mate, Wigan will be back to a crap shirt next year. If you stick with a 'classic' design, folk won't buy one the next year so they have to keep changing it around. That's why you ended up with a nice pink one last season.

| Just a quick note to thank you all for the help. We now have a couple of shirts being sent to us by a couple of stars on here. As soon as we get them mocked up we will post on this forum with details of price and how to pre order. We are doing the 91 shirt and also a short sleeved version of the 70s shirt, though the latter will be limited stock initially, unless we get a few pre orders for this. Thanks again lads

Any idea on the price. Seems to be a big variation on your website. Would it be of any benefit if a few of us pre ordered, then you could bring your costs down?

| Perhaps I'm just too old but for me the iconic shirt is the one I remember Brian Bevan wearing when he was in his pomp and I was a boy. I doubt you'd be able to get hold of one but it was a long sleeved white shirt with a narrow primrose hoop, a broad blue one and then another narrow primrose one across both the chest and the arms. There is a picture of it (in black and white) on the fornt of 'The Great Bev' by Robert Gate. We've had some great players but Bevan was something really special.
I've always felt that the primrose in that shirt really was primrose and not just a generic yellow. The blue seemed different from the recent ones too.

Perhaps it is an age thing. It is difficult for somebody as young as me to appreciate how iconic that shirt is to you. it is as you say the one they wore when you were a lad.
I wonder which shirt will be my son's iconic shirt? The one the great Briers played in when he was a lad. Will he be on here in fifty years time harping on about a blue, black, white, yellow, white and yellow and blue, green and red, or black and red shirt?

There are certain players who are remembered in certain shirts. The Brian Bevan shirt is the one you mention, the Alex Murphy shirt is the 74 Cup Final one (that Pemps did a few years ago), the John Bevan one is the all blue one with the blue shirts (everyone who saw him remembers the Bev salute wearing the all blue kit), and the Mike Greg shirt is the one from Wembley 1990.
