where did you find out that somebody dropped drugs??? thats an absolute joke!
also, its nice to see that the person writing the guardians article on the fire actually watched the match, NOT!
thats absolutely pathetic!

| One of the ball boys picked something up they thought was drugs not a clue if it was or maybe pain killers...
Plenty of smoking in the toilets and too much alcohol flowing.

| Quote magic piano="magic piano"Hmm plenty of trouble at the ground - Mrs Piano was collecting for Help the Heroes & said she had never seen as much at the HJ, including fighting & abuse of stewards. When I picked her up afterwards there were a fair few fans of both teams looking for trouble & while most of it was idiots who couldn't take a drink their families must be incredibly proud of them, especially those who thought it would be ok to cause trouble in front of their own terrified children.
Let's not forget the fire was started by selfish Fax "fans" who couldn't wait for a cigarette another hour - nice work, maybe you would like your club charged for the costs incurred? And while the fire was started in a storage cupboard, the toilets stuffed full of toilet paper with cigarette buts around there indicate they knew exactly what they were doing & cared not one bit.
Incidentally, the Fax fan who dropped their drugs on the pitch - you can probably contact the club if you want to know what happened to them after the ball boys picked them up...
If that's the standard of behaviour from Fax & Fev "fans", well as far as I'm concerned you can stay in the Championship.'"

| Quote mikej="mikej"In answer to the comments of "bad day for sport" how about looking at it this way.
Fire in stand, all spectators left safely. Now thats got to be a good result!
Only people causing any bother were those tanked up on ale who had been drinking in town for god knows how long. Saw a lot of "mature" Fev fans who were trying to calm down the drunken louts once they realise what happened.'"
Fair point,
It wasnt all fax/fev fans it was a minority (as it always is,thank god),but as iv just put on another post if we get asked to stage the mickey mouse finals next year id tell them to shove it...
As for the drugs at games,at Wigan away this season the toilets were like pete doherty's tour bus,it was just a drug den.Im not condoning it atall but im used to this sort of thing,iv been going to football away games for years and im relatively new to RL since i moved from norfolk (1st season was 2nd to last at wilderspool). We do advertise RL as a family sport, seems it is slowly losing that tag...

| I think the 'family sport' tag is just paper over the cracks. There is an element of rogue characters within the game, players and fans alike, but it's a society issue, not solely an RL issue. I've heard some pretty nasty stories from yesterday's game and most of it seems to stem from alcohol fuelled antics. Doesn't mean we're all animals that should be caged, but I do wish people wouldn't be so fickle about it. A lot of mud gets slung when incidents like this occur, "your fans are worserer than our fans" "our fans were provoced" etc. People act like knobs no matter where they're from or who they support, end of. I'd also like to see such behaviour discouraged at matches, people seem to turn a blind eye when it's 'their' fans, yet are often on t'interweb slagging others off for the same.

| I'm waiting for Dropkick to come and post on this topic backing up the smokers. After all, he did it when something similar was posted about people smoking in the toilets at Widnes. What was it now? Something about "oh, they have an addiction. A smoke isn't going to cause that much damage. Get over yourself".

| On a side note maybe this incident is a catalyst that sees your apalling PA system upgraded, very little heard all night in the south stand, maybe it might have been a lot calmer and organised if the fans could hear things

For Warrington home games we have additional speakers placed at pitch level, now I'm not sure if they had those yesterday.
I do agree that the PA system that is built in should be upgraded with bigger, clearer speakers in the roofs, like the one's at Old Trafford.

They did have the seperate speakers yesterday, but the emergency announcements were made through the tannoy system so it wasnt that clear. The announcers both talked over each other which didnt help matters.

| Yeah they use the ground tannoy for emergency announcements as I think that can be heard across all aspects of the ground in the concourses & office areas, not just the pitchside where the large speakers are...
