On the other hand though...it would be foolish to announce centurions tv without doing a but of market research with your potential customer base. Pricing and content will be critical...

35 / 40 quid for the season seems a bargain for the games and an insight into the club and the players

In what is likely to be my final posting on RLFans I would cordially like to knock the heads together of the communications group.



At our last meeting it was suggested to put feelers out there, of which my twitter message was one and created a ripple. Sadly not all members of the group were able to make the meeting so perhaps they were unaware that this is something that was going to happen before a launch date.



Now the elephant in the room has been discovered, the planning goes in and this talk of what people would be willing to pay is vital. For me this is the most exciting project that I have ever been involved in and if we can get it up and running with the features that have been talked about, it is hoped to bring fans closer to the club. (No sarcastic Wigan comments here please)



Like it or not, the club has not been savvy enough in the past to ever plug any holes in communication. Let us get savvy in other ways.



More feedback on this thread would be welcomed both for content and price people would be willing to pay.

I'm fully aware of what went on at the meeting but the plan of action hasn't been carried out has it? Less of a drip, drip, ripple approach, more a drip-splash-flood. So I'd like to bang together the heads of those who messed up.

I think the club should have asked st a fans forum what people thought about it, and would they use it?

They like to be open and honest so that's the way forward I say .

I'd still run the promos countdown as planned Dave ..... they sound fun





I'd like player interviews and a sneaky peep at what goes on behind the scenes , ya know training , weight room etc , and the players being flogged

The problem with that is you will lose all momentum of publicity by the time the service launches, and the club will also look bad if the plan is deemed unfeasible before launch.



Some things need to be held back until the time is right, and that's nothing to do with honesty, and everything to do with making an impact with an announcement that fans can act upon immediately.



This shouldn't have been announced until people could sign-up and use it.



That's my opinion and based on looking at this from a marketing opportunity angle.

Like I said I will take it on the chin but again like I said I used the opportunity to have a market research angle instead, If that was deemed wrong then so be it as one would have had to be done sometime.



As for my day job Michelle I don't have one and as for banging heads together well as it was only me??



Silly post Lynda, this (if it comes off) will be Leigh Centurions and available only from Leigh Centurions, but we may have a look at how they do it and see if we can improve (or not) on the model, but as they are the nearest club doing this sort of thing I would have asked their advice anyway, ideas are free.



So the general conscientious would be around a fiver a week? bit less for a year up front obviously (this would also look after the set up costs which will be no where near what Wigan have paid out). Thank you for your views well the sensible ones at least.

Despite all the wailing and hand-wringing I didn't see this topic as a problem, it has served a useful purpose.
