Gold is probably the best conductor of electricity that we have naturally. Anyone who is up there with their hifi will tell you that the best speaker cables have gold in them. The best mechanical micro switches have gold contacts.

In evolutionary terms you could say the same for the human race. Gold as an element has had a lot of varied uses over the years in medicine.

Sorry it's a fact. Gold is used extensively in high spec electrical components and products but your comment is utter and complete whatever you said.

No I don't disagree but I think there are records of gold being used in medicine as early as the 1400's. The other factor is that it hasn't been mined as extensively as it has in the last century. From it's very early mining it was predominantly used for ornamental things.

Golds main appeal traditionally is that it is a very simple metal to work into ornate shapes but is relatively scarce, making it the ideal material for adornment. It is also non reactive to human skin, so that also appeals, and doesn't corrode.



El;ectrically it has been used for over 100 years as a conductor, but not to the same degree that it is used now, as it is pretty much the perfect conductor.
