I was replying ONLY about signing about Wigan, not swearing, not the IRA etc. I don't see what is 'stupid' about singing about them!!

I think your right there Lynda, most people who do sing when that "Tune" starts is what you sing. I think the tune and chant is quite catchy and I join in but don't use wig@n and the ira. It may only be a handful who use these words but because it has become synonymous now when some folk hear it they just assume everyone singing must be idiots

Yep that's where it came from, as I said only a few and in the whole scheme of things not really significant (mountain molehill)

It was the Rochdale club to blame. When they scored well into the second half they played the flute tune and our lads then joined in - may not have been sung otherwise.

I have to agree with Steve here. It's not funny, and it's not clever. I swear like a pitman, but would NEVER EVER sing the flute song, or sing about owt to do with that pervert Saville. I've been to games with my two kids - who also can swear like pitmen when under pressure - but they also think that where we are trying to encourage kids/teenagers to become future fans, then their mum/dad take them to the game, and they hear stuff like this, we're actually discouraging them ....
