| Pretty sure we beat Wigan earlier on in the season with grix, if he makes a mistake then he makes a mistake, can't just criticise him for everything he does wrong, he's not perfect but he's good enough

No point in being top of league now and then a grix mistake gifts Wigan the league leaders shield next week is their ?
I seem to remember back in the day Kris Radlinksi came in as a 16 year old kid in similar circumstances and did not do too much wrong by helping wigan win the league ?
Face facts grix is no good he should be a backup back like he was signed for'"
He makes mistakes, as do a lot of the team. If it comes to him being the last man to beat, it usually means someone has made a defensive mistake in the defensive line.
The problem comes from mistakes being more noticeable and sometimes more costly in the full-back position.
I too have said previously that he could do with being dropped, but at this stage of the season it would be daft - something akin to what Nathan Brown would do. He has done a good enough job so far, so I say leave him where he is.
On the balance, I would say Grix does a good job and as others have pointed out he can't be that bad if we're top of the league.

| Agree about grix being dropped but think its too late in the season now, should of been sorted in the pre season, hopefully it will be sorted for next season.
fielden still out injured, have to say this has dragged on far too long now.
anyway the 19 has been announced i think it wil be
Grix
mcgillvary
cudjoe
wardle
murphy
brough
robbo
wood
kopzchak
crabtree
ferres
lawrence
taai
bench-
faiumu
cording
patrick
johnson
think blackmore did well last time but mcgillvary will of been given the kick up the backside he needed and straight back in.
perfect opportunity to play johnson this.
cording in for ferguson

| Maybe Grix is in the squad because Paul Anderson, a man infinitely more capable and qualified to judge a players abilities and how they fit into the squad than anyone who posts on these boards, believes he is good enough to play there?

| murphy played two games at full back last year that both stood out.
game 1 - bradford "mudfest" - murphy was extremely solid - in that game our defensive line was extremely solid, bruno made over 50 tackles and bradford didnt make any significant breaks as the going was hard work, due to the conditions the ball didnt bounce (it squelched) so kicks were long with it being difficult to chase due to the inches of mud, murphy had lots of time and space although in extremely difficult handling conditions.
Game 2 - widnes - dry and clear day on the ipitch, murphy was shocking, widnes tries all came from badly dealt with kicks where as fullback he failed to cover - he had less time and space to work with.
fullback is one of the few true specialised positions there is. I think murphys handling is better than grixs especially under pressure - but his positional awareness is poorer, and his organisation of the defensive line not as good.
we have to think about what we need from our fullback based on the conditions and the opposition we are playing........ funnily enough I also reckon that Paul Anderson is better placed to make those decisions than someone sat in the stands. hes got us to the top of the table with 5 games to go - ill bow to his better judgement.

give murphy as many games as grix has had at full back, then we can compare.
we will see the difference im sure. in murphys favour.

| Whenever Grix isn't at Fullback you can tell
And not in a good way.
Simple fact is he is the best fullback we have got.
We've done this a million times but lets just review our recent full backs and you have to go to Paul Reilly to find one that wast slated every week.
And he was the worst of the lot!

Interesting how you haven't brought up when we beat Wigan earlier on in the season, beat Leeds earlier on in the season, beat saints earlier on in the season..... works two ways!

| I think Murphy will make an excellent full back. Anyone who saw the Batley cup game will know that he kept us in the game with his great positioning and defence.
But now is not the time to change. Murphy has improved the wide defence massively this year.
Grix is an experienced full back. He has a lot of positives and even though he makes a few errors he needs to stay at full back for the rest of the season.
