Been asked today by 2 different sources if it's true the RFL has paid off the remaining Broncos players contracts to make them free agents ?

First I'd heard of this but worrying if true

Not heard anything from my source however two weeks or so ago I was told the provisional deal was in real danger of collapse. (I chose not to post at the time as I couldn't see how this becoming public could assist ongoing attempts to broker a deal.) My source reported problems agreeing the length of a groundshare at Barnet and a shift of opinion against a deal within the upper echelons of RL as a late change left the rest of the sport faced with a bigger bill to save us. He concluded it didn't look good and would be decided in the next two weeks or so.



Hopefully the above reports are totally unconnected but......

I spoke to a bottle of HP earlier who informed me that a lot of what is written on RL forums is often not the truth, but there are occasions where it is. It's hard to distinguish what's true in amongst the 98% of nonsense.

...except when I am posting it...then there is no difficulty in distinguishing exactly what it is eh

As an observation, over the years, I have to say when people "hear" that so and so are talking to Player X at an NRL club, it is often true. But generally it can only be in the sense that an enquiry has been made about the individual and word has got out from either side. I know for example, as we speak, a couple of UK clubs have made enquiries about a South Sydney player that I know. So fans may get to hear this and post it on their forums in the UK.

so wha'ts the latest update about the club.

We don't really know to be honest. It is clear that we are approaching a final decision and some of us are picking up bits of info from people we know. How accurate it is we may never know.



BTW should add I suspect the bit about more money being needed was someone this end playing hardball and is solvable with good will on both sides.

I wouldn't give any credence to the story about the RFL paying off our remaining players - why should they? If we're going bust then they become free agents anyway. The business about problems with the new deal might be more likely, but I'm not sure if the latest fortnight's up yet

Happy to dispel the rumour as being false. Was told today by 3 club employees it was complete (word that rhymes with rowlocks).

Was told a few other things but they're embargoed for now.
