Big win for the under 20's at Aldershot this afternoon 44-4 I think it finished.



Its a very strong team- Calderwood played. Sargeson and Mellor were very good in the halves.

Excellent. Who is coaching the U20's ?

I must have nodded off at some point, I thought the score was 36-4. In any event a very impressive performance, and despite the one-sided scoreline there was some impressive goal line defence from Quins. As well as the halves I liked Max Edwards at hooker.



Coach is Mick Howell, who is David's brother.

Our Under 20's only win because all the decent Under 20 players other teams have are good enough for Super League, whereas ours aren't.

When Powell was responding on Sky after the game on the subject of 'squad depth' he referred to Mellor and Sargeson as being able to cover so he obviously feels both are up to it.

I remain of the opinion that Randall and Ellis should be rotated at Hooker and one of Mellor or Sargeson in at 7. Randall does not offer enough at 7 to justify playing there. Max Edwards seems to keep getting good wraps which is great. I think Ellis is going to be a star so we need someone coming through to replace him for when a big club comes for him.

I have been looking at these forums for a while now and Lister has finally made one misinformed comment too many for me.

Today Huddersfield fielded 4 players who had previously played first team rugby and two who had been assigned to the wigan first team. So to beat this team is an achievement in itself, secondly Quins fielded Edwards, Bryan, Williams and Thomas who have all played first team rugby league and are products of our academy. So to say that the reason our u20's team are winning is purely because of the other teams fastracking their youngsters is ridiculous. We also have players destined for first team action such as Caro and Sarginson in the side who have had a whole pre season at first team level and a possible only reason they arent in the first team currently is due to the first teams successes! Maybe you should try and get down to a few games before you make stupid assumptions.

Do you play for the side?



Our games are played in Aldershot, which is nowhere near our home ground, and nowhere near my current location.



I await in anticipation for the likes of Caro and Sarginson to establish themselves in Super League, but I think I will have a long wait.



I really don't think it is ridiciculous. Other teams are fielding youngsters in Super League regularly by the age of 18. We aren't.



If it was Under 16's or 18's, my opinion would be different. But this is Under 20's and we shouldn't draw too much from it.

If you had an open selection of all Under 20's at each SL club, we would get battered every week.
