Police cars going crazy down Beech Hill Ave. Now i know you could argue 'well its Beech Hill Avenue' but 77 coaches have gone to the DW today.
Anyone seen any trouble?

The only arrests apparently have been two people for ticket touting. I think they are going a way, way over the top with this operation myself.

i saw them going towards the M6 at Bryn. The amount of police is a joke. Who is going to be paying for this you have to pay the police, the hire of the coaches. Why should us folk of Wigan have to sit in traffic while the police flow all the coaches through.
A bunch of full grown men who can’t enjoy a game of football peacfully needing all the palaver sp.

I was down at the stadium earlier, getting my ticket, saw lots of Rangers fans around but all being very well behaved. |

Better safe than sorry.
If the Police and the club had not worked together to take such measures then they would of been wide open to criticism if it had kicked off again.
The images of Rangers supporters attacking Police in Manchester will still be fresh in a lot of peoples minds - especially the Police themselves. |

But I'm not sure the issues that night came down to football. It was more early morning and the Rangers fans left in the city being drunk and having no where to go with all the pubs shut and hotels full and no trains, that kind of thing. They had over 100,000 in the city that day so perhaps a bit of trouble was inevitable. This time its 3,000 maximum. Just seems a bit much to me. |

IIRC the trouble came about because of hoardes of Rangers fans coming down without tickets intending to watch the game in Manchester instead. One of the big screens in the city centre that was showing the went kaput and it all went downhill from there. I agree though it's pretty OTT |

Why after what happened last time?
Without this more than 10,000 would have travelled down for the game, maybe causing chaos again. |

Even if 10,000 turned up thats not close to the over 100,000 that came down for the UEFA Cup Final (some estimates reckoned 120,000). I'm not convinced 10,000 would have come anyway - this is not a rare major cup final for them. |
