| Is it just me or is the classy way that the vast majority of Saints fans have dealt with Wigan's return to the top just a little bit annoying?
Not that I'd want them to behave like Leeds or Wire fans obviously, but it would be nice if they weren't coping quite so well with our resurgence. I'm sure inside they are a seething cauldron of hatred, bitterness and envy, but they are doing a great job of hiding it.

It's what makes it a true Rugby League rivalry IMO!

I don't think so, a proper rivalry is filled with hatred towards you opponent, obviosuly there is a lot of respect mixed in there as well. What can they say to you anyway "you're rubbish, never win as much as us". They have nothing on you, that's why they say nothing.

I think you might have this wrong, although I can't speak for all Saints fans obviously. What we at the match saw yesterday were two things: some very worried Wigan fans (like Saints fans, you go quiet when you're worried) and a Saints team that just lacked the cutting edge. We missed a halfback who could kick (the only way we would have overcome your defence in the first half). With the exception of the Stobart match, when we were trounced in every aspect of the game, Saints fans have been able to come away from our matches against Wigan knowing that we were just a bit off. 75-0 was great fun and we made the most of it while it lasted. But that isn't the only thing that rivalry is about. It's about believing that we can 'do you' next time out, and Saints have shown their fans just enough to know that that is a possibility. And I believe Wigan fans know that too. That makes for a quality rivalry (but not a fun one!).
Oh, and in recent times anyway, we have won a whole lot more than Wigan!

| It's about being blase.
When a team has been near the top for a long time, and has lots or recent trophies under its belt, it doesn't matter as much any more. Wigan fans were the same in the late 1990s. Loads of my acquaintance didn't even make the trip to Wembley in '98 (sensibly, as it would turn out). Some didn't even watch it on the TV. It just didn't matter as much because we'd seen them lift so many cups in previous years.
Saints are probably going through a similar patch.

| They have been gracious, or has our view of them just been tempered by some of the kn0bhead Dire fans who choose to live on this board.

| Maybe it is because the Saints fans are not hungry enough for sucess or passionate enough about their club any more. Their following did not suggest it.

| To be totally honest I think we've got uses to losing big games over the last 4/5 years. The first grand final loss to Leeds was hard to get over, then the 2nd and were like not again, then the 3rd you think I expected it and then when you lot best us we was all expecting it.
Like winning, losing become a habit and get used to it.
I thought your defence was very good yesterday, other than our ten min spell when we scored our two tries, we looked like we wouldnt score if we played for a week.
Congratulations on your semi final win and snog your day at Wembley .
I hope you lose tho
