Might seem like a stupid question but... why?

They have been running a story line in which an escaped prisoner was holding hostages at gunpoint. It is believed that he goes on to shoot victims dead in forthcoming episodes. Explains itself really. Well done ITV, although shame on those moaning about it on media forums. Unbelievable some people.

Ah right fair enough, dont watch it so was cluless, well done to the ITV bosses though!

Sad times.. can only feel for the victims and families.

A minutes silence will be observed before all matches this weekend.

The 2005 Whitehaven game was the first time I watched Wigan, not a nice thought that one of the players who took part in such an important game to me died before his time.



Best wishes to all of Gary's family and the families of all the victims.

I used to work in Whitehaven town centre and couldn't imagine what the scenes would have been like. The streets are quiet, narrow, close together & there aren't many roads in/out of the town. The taxi rank where the first victim lost his life is almost bang in the town centre too.

Seems appropriate - it's sad to think that we've had a minute silence before what seems like the majority of home games this season for a variety of reasons. Condolences to all involved yesterday.

So sad reading about this yesterday and today - all the victims were just ordinary people going about their daily lives, some enjoying retirement and others just working as normal. Can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like to have been targeted or caught up in events. Condolences to the Purdhams and to all in Cumbria. For such a quiet and beautiful place, it doesn't half have its troubles.



A (hopefully properly-observed) minute's silence is the right thing to do.

A true tragedy for all concerned.



The minutes silence is an excellent gesture and one i hope is far better respected than last time we tried.
