There doesn't seem much common sense applied here does there?
I am sure the law will have been applied properly but they will be paying tax not costing the tax payer money and of course will be spending their wages in the UK etc.
I suppose if you yield to the paranoid view of the UK is being overrun with those who sneaked in illegally in the back of a wagon, claimed asylum and sought housing / benefits then you get strict laws like this that affect people like the players involved.
My comment about "who snitched" does beg the question who put the immigration service onto them and also if they can get this lot out of the country so fast (they must leave by Sept 7th) why we have an immigration problem at all?
I suspect they were easy targets, probably because they thought they were here legitimately and were not in hiding working in some sweat shop.
