| Quote cadoo="cadoo" Can we honestly say that over three years that Noble has been here we have improved each week/month/year?'"
For a short sweet answer imo yes.
It may well be a very simplistic way to look at it but our team/squad now would beat our squad two seasons ago with players like Millard, Withers, Calderwood, Higham, DV & Tickle playing then.
Compare what we had to what we have now and players like Lockers, Hock, Tommy, Prescott, Joel Tomkins, Mcilorum, Richards, Feka are all better than they were two seasons ago. We have improved if you look at it like that but we’ve been hit hard/unlucky by the loss of Trent and also Fielden not living up to or fulfilling the role in the team he was signed to do.
Add to that new players like Gleeson & Carmont are better than what we had and even Roberts is better than Calders and Colbon.
We have moved forward as a club but the problem is we’ve not moved forward as quickly as other teams like Leeds, Castleford, Hull KR & Catalan have which has in some ways nullified the progress we’ve made.
Noble isn’t the guy to take us any further than we already are and it’s time to get a coach that can be one step ahead of the game instead of one step behind it.
But to say we haven’t improved under him is wrong.
I still think we are a HB like Dobbo and a prop like Petro away from being right back up there.

Well you were
Anyway you should count yourself lucky there's no relegation because when your old timers leave, you will be down the bottom with Celtic.

| Quote cadoo="cadoo"I would hardly call it a momumentous achievement what Noble did in 2006. We were in a situation where anyone would do and just the idea of having a new coach lifted the squad. It tends to be the case when most clubs get new coaches.
But from 2006 we have gone backwards. A simple statistic (I think someone has already done this on another thread) is the amount of games we have won each season. We have gone backwards. I think this year it is something like 37%. Can we honestly say that over three years that Noble has been here we have improved each week/month/year?
Just look at his team selection on Friday. He claims players will get in on merit - well then explain why Sam Tomkins goes from being a match winner one week to being the 18th man the other? in place of Mark Riddell? Apart from one run he made all game - What else did he do? Tomkins is a match winner - he proved that against Wakefield - we could have done with him on Friday.'"
Spot on, though the only thing I'd question was whether Noble or the guy who kicked us all over the park on Friday night, young Mr Dobson, was the driving force behind us staying up. Personally I've always been of the view that us staying up had more to do with Dobbo rather than BN. Any vaguely competent coach could have kept us up with Dobbo on that form.

| Our staying up was due to the three, Noble, Fielden & Dobson.

Do you want me to remove the hook?
On a serious note though.
Do you think maybe noble did the job he did at the bulls was due to the team he took over?
The bulls was a big strong tough team when he took charge.
Just maybe he not as good as people thought.

| With Ian Mcgeechan getting the boot at Wasps there could be a certain Mr Edwards available if the new coach wants to bring his own back room staff in

No it wasn't - I am certain they all played their part and their arrivals boosted the club but the major factors in our survival were all the injuries clearing up at once, and fielding the same side in about the last 12 matches straight, which also co-incided with about 9 of them being at home - had half been away we could well of been relegated.
To give credit to those three only shows a complete disrespect for the likes of Scott Logan, Bryan Fletcher, Danny Orr etc and the efforts 1 - 17 put in.

Come off it wigan was never going to go down.
Even if millward stayed wigan would have stayed up.
It was just 1 of them seasons wigan was having.
I bet he would have done a good job in the end.

| Would be a great move for Noble and a position as director of Rugby in my opinion is bar far the best option for him. He has done a great job stabalising the club nd putting the infrastructure into place for us to kick on, as a direct coch i do not think he has the ability to take us to the next level but there is no doubt the work he has done in a non coaching role has left the club in a much better state than when he arrived.
