Indicating ten metres The Referee should usually position himself ten metres behind and to one side of the point at which the ball is played as a guide to the team not in possession. If tackling is excessively keen or play is unnecessarily rough, the referee may forsake the ten metres position in order to be nearer the players involved in the tackle.
The referee has indicated the 10 metres. Briers was in front of him, and therefore offside.
It's as simple as that.'"
What was your opinion on Hock taking a man out to allow Tomkins to shoot the gap?

He wasn't at the ptb, he was marking the ten metres.

| The referee had a stinker, in fact he made so many mistakes they pretty much evened themselves out. I don't think you could point to anything in this game that was the equivalent of the 7 tackle shocker the other week.

| The only decision I had a problem with was near the end when Finch had the ball stolen off him by Morley in a 2 man tackle and Morley just got told to give him the ball back. How could he come to that decision? It seems the only way Morley can be penalised is if he takes someone's head off. I don't call him 'Sir' Adrian Morley for nothing.
Other then that the only decisions I had problems with were Wigans pathetically negative ones to go for 2 points at times we had them on the rack. They ultimately cost us the match.

10 mins gone, battering our line, penalty in front of the sticks, taking the 2 did us a massive favour. It allowed us to start playing the game in Wigans half. Negative / cautious tactics probably lost you the game - would your previous coach have done that ??

I couldn't believe that choice of play. Wigan had all the pressure, and should have kept piling it on. As you say, going for the two just gave Warrington time to catch a breath and get away from their own try line.

Maguire would always have taken the 2 and I think us doing that on Friday is a result of his time with us. We were efficient and professional and played safety first. The thing is we've really thrown the ball around this year and had a go yet that was negative and it did cost us the game.
0-0- Wigan hammering the Wire line and take the 2. Then from the kick off Prescott drops the ball and Wire score to go ahead 6-2.
16-12- Wigan camped at Wires end and look like they need one try to wrap the game up after a fast start to the 2nd half take the 2. Then from the kick off Leuluai throws an intercept pass to Briers to level the scores at 18-18. Wire never looked back and could hardly believe they were still in a game Wigan had controlled for large parts.
It was embarrassingly negative.
