| I like the way the Saints safety officer mentions "The car park is particularly hazardous and therefore we had no other option than to call it off"... Surely the car park is something they could have done something about?
Loads of football clubs had volunteers clearing ice and snow away from grounds yesterday to ensure the game was on, and I'm sure plenty of fans from both sides would have volunteered to help if it would have got the game on (it only took me a matter of moments to completely clear my driveway last night so it could easily be done).
As for the surrounding roads, you only had to go to the JJB yesterday to watch the Latics (as I did as an away fan, I hasten to point out) to see that you can still get a game on even if some of the approaches aren't safe. The roads on the Frog Lane side of the canal were horrendous, but miraculously no-one seemed to fall over or crash their cars, and it isn't the club's fault if you do happen to do so away from their property.
Surely if Saints could have got their own property in order they could have left it to us to make our own minds up about travelling, with a suitable line advising fans to take extra care on their way to the game?

| The club/s have lost out on around 100k if 8000 turned up and paid 12pound each that would have made 96k.

That's the point, they haven't got their property in order. They must not have got the man power/resources to clear their property so are blaming it on the roads/surrounding area. The scousers have let us down and dreamt up a pathetic excuse to try and appease us. Refunds all round please.

Students, over 60's and under 16s had to pay a fiver to get in and the crowd would of been less than that so you figure is way off.

| Would still have been a good pay day and for that reason I'm surprised they haven't re-arranged. But I told you all it would be postponed when you started discussing potential line ups in November!

| I'm sorry guys but come on. It is fully understandable that your game was called off. The pavements and minor roads in this part of the country are hazardous and a number of accidents would have occured. Yes most would have resulted in hurt pride rather than injury but there could also have been some serious incidents. I guess that Saints did as much as they could to get the game on but just think about how much resource (money and manpower) would have been needed to make safe all the roads and pavements in, lets say, a mile radius of the ground. Impossible.
Several of you have also asked about the difference between this game going ahead and the fact that supermarkets and shopping centres have remained open. Cost versus risk. Most make massive profits and they will have made more from staying open, and getting several claims for minor accidents that may have happened on or around their premises, than by shutting. A relatively small sports organisation would have had a different result to their 'risk analysis'.
