| Disagree with the criticism of the bench, as he was always going to use the subs to interchange with forwards. Forward goes off and JD goes into pack. Murphy moves into centre and Blaymire comes on. Latu goes off, Obst goes in at 9, and BJ comes on to go at 7. Now I haven't got my calculator out, but I bet no forward played more because of the selection than they expected.
Seems a simple strategy that might have kept Leeds guessing a bit, and with that selection we slugged it out, toe to toe, against the champions who played well.
Yep, JD spilled a couple of times at crucial moments, but so did others.
In respect of Gleeson and that pass, it could be equally said that Blanch should have been ready for it. If the pass before then had gone to a man, Gleeson wouldn't have got the ball in that position. Leeds try passes like that all the time, and when they come off, they are geniuses. Gleeson tries it and it doesn't. One of those things.

So what you are saying is, he is a poor coach, (your words) but you are not calling for his head.
That can only mean, in your opinion, you want a coach, who in your opinion is poor, to coach WTRLFC.
Please explain.

| Not really knocking JK in hindsight but Latu should have been replaced after 7 mistakes in a short spell and perhaps a Leaeno/Gledhill for Hendo/Johnson who didn't make much impact. You can't account for unforecast rain with selections!
I still think JD should be spelled. Tonight's performance gave me a lot of heart though.

The wakey turnout was the biggest gripe. I was expecting at least 1,000. I'd say 500 max. Not happy with some of the female students either outside the ground...
I nearly had a fight with a Wakey fan in the toilets at half time, what a drunken idiot and I have seen him at BV many a time as equally drunk. I've never seen 20 people leave a room as fast as tonight, it was like Robocop on acid.

| Quote BIGAL1="BIGAL1"Would this thread have been started if we had won this game, would Kear be a bad coach then?
We lost to a better side on the night in shocking conditions, it could have gone either way.
We lost with a makeshift side to the 3 x Champions, of course we all know best and have an opinion and we could do a better job
Bigger picture springs to mind.'"
al the poster who started this thread would of been absent , i think its about time we gave this calibre of poster the attention it requires and just ignore it , it may just go away.

For what it's worth we were questioning the bench beofre kick off it's not made with the benefit of hindsight. If we had won I would still be saying it makes no sense to have a bench with blaymire and jeffries on it'"
Hey thats fine, i just don't understand posters who post negative, without seeing any positve, we all have different views but try to balance the "good and the bad" if we don't then whats the point.
For what its worth i don't disagree with the views on the bench but its all down to opinion, my chice would have been Fergy instead of Blaymire, but i'm not JK.

Gleeson threw a crazy pass, Latu cocked up all night long but only 1 of those two will get stick on here.
The rain changed things, maybe JK expected dry weather and set up the team to suit.

It may be the case that no forward did more than normal, and it is hard to say that the bench strategy cost us the game - that can be laid squarely at the feet of poor decisions and poor execution by players. However, I can't help feeling it is unnecessary, and any hope that it might keep the opposition guessing a bit is rather hollow - we'd worked out on hearing the bench how it would operate and it isn't the first time it has been used. It is probably coincidental that two of those involved, JD and Latu, were two of the players who had absolute stinkers, although it can't have helped.
What I fear it risks doing is creating disorganisation between players as it requires a wider reshuffle rather than straight swaps. You could also argue that those moving from the backs to the forwards aren't going to those positions fresh. Either way, I can't help thinking there are reasons why most coaches follow convention on this one and have a heavier bench.

Cant for the life in me see what anybody sees in Latu hes a clown high time we dropped him and gave young Davey game time if there is one player i hope we get rid of at the end of this season its Latu
As for the Gleeson pass yes crazy pass but if Blanch had taken it and gone 70 yards for a try we would have all said great offload

| You can argue all day long that Kear picked a bench for the weather, but that is clearly not a clever argument. If he had selected a side for the heat then surely 3 forwards is the way to go as the big man get tired quicker. Then if the weather turns as it did then you have the right players for that too.
And just out of curiosity how does what time a post was made matter as to whether an opinion is valid?
I love how some people's only argument on here to something they don't agree with is either you got home early to make that comment or your opinion doesn't count because you didn't go to the game and are not a proper supporter.

Yep I've mentioned it above and on other threads that it looked like a lightweight bench ready for a hot dry humid night. I've mentioned Gleese doing the nasty too but the confidence is something we lacked over the last 2-3 months and Gleese obviously had too much!
