I can't recall the team so much (so help there would be good) but I was wondering how many of that side would we have back now? Based on their current form, not how they were then.



So as an example, would we want Side Show Bob back on the wing? Would we want Rooney back?

Just interested to see what people think as we have lost so many, was it better overall to do so?

Rooney infamously didn’t make the team!



But off the top of my head I would have Brough, Drew (if he were still in a position to play) and Wilkes back in a heartbeat.

From that team I'd have Ferres back, Brough obviously but I think that is it.

The other players who were heroes back then like JD and MacG are no longer playing so discounting them I'm happy enough with the current crop. Atkins would obviously add to our fire power out wide but right now he isn't right for our team. Better off at Wolves.



Funny that when you look at the other team, who went on to Wembley, many of them are still in their starting lineup but they've changed 7 as far as I can see.



Why wasn't Fergi playing? Was he injured? Sure he was playing at that time.......the memory is going with old age I reckon.

When I saw the thread title I thought the interesting fact was going to be an explanation as to why a top level rugby player is unable to actually pass a rugby ball. Thought he might have some kind of long standing wrist injury or somet. Ho hum

Hendo doesn't need to pass, he just bulldozers through any would be defenders, no matter how many there are.

I used to think he was pretty pants years ago but I've grown to love him....every team needs a Hendo.

Crikey!! I remember a few seasons ago he could not stop passing the ball; usally in front of his own sticks! Thank goodness he has got rid of that habit!! Now what a workhorse!!
