| Quote The Key="The Key"The idea of accepting our own mediocrity due to the fact other teams are playing poorly is a very weak arguement. We have played poorly ever since Agar took over. Even when we were winning our first five games, we barely played with consistancy. We could have easily lost against Wigan, Hudds and Celtic. There are tons of problems with the team, which is down to both players and the coaching set up. I want a new coaching set up and I want them to get the players to either shape up or not give them new contracts until they do, thus meaning crap players will eventually leave. If there wasn't a salary cap and we had the money, I would have backed any new coach to release players'"
There's lots of things I disagree with about Hull FC at the moment. However, getting shut of the coaching set up and all the "crap" players that have been identified on here, as well as Kath Hetherington et al is simply not going to happen.
The reality is, like it or not, that Agar is the current coach. He is in charge of a team that are currently playing poorly, as are many other coaches. If he turns it around in the next few games then it will show he may be the right choice (only long term success will determine that). If not then throw him on the scrapheap never to be heard of again (like we did with two of our last three coaches )

| Some of the anti-Kear comments on these threads are confusing me a little. He's a good coach - you only have to look at how his team are currently doing to see that. If we'd have given him more time and got rid of the players who were instrumental in his departure, I believe we'd be seeing the benefits now.

I agree mate - I think we got rid too quickly. If player/s were actually undermining him then they should have been kicked out, as they should be now if it is still going on (TBF I've seen no evidence of that).

He's a decent coach - not as bad as some make out and not as good as others claim. Remember that our league form was poor in 2005 before all the alleged 'player power' shenanigans started in 2006.
I'm not so sure that we'd have seen the benefits TBH. He was hardly faultless in the events that lead to his departure, and it may be that what he went through has modified some of the behaviour that contributed to his downfall.
In other words, he wouldn't be the coach he is now if he had stayed at Hull.

| me personally think agar should be given more time yet, however if hull do replace him the new coach is going to have to be in the brian smith mode, its not going to be easy to turn/motivate a bunch of mostly average at best players into a top super league side, for me hull over achieved in the first 5 games and now normal service has been resumed, not much difference to last season.
p.s. anyone know what phil sigsworth is doing at the mo!!?

From Wiki P:
Sigsworth then moved into coaching, in 1996 he joined English club Hull FC and coached the team to their first First Division championship title in 1997. Sigsworth parted ways with the club in mid 1999 and returned to Australia where he linked up again with the Balmain Tigers as assistant coach to Wayne Pearce. The club merged with Western Suburbs and after one season in 2000 at Wests Tigers, Pearce stepped down as coach and Sigsworth also left. Sigsworth has not been involved with an NRL club since.

Sharp isn't the only ex-player at the club who understands the history, rivalries, passion, etc. - what price Lee Crooks to replace Richard Agar, maybe not this season but eventually?

And he'd chuck it after two years. Which would save us sacking a coach for a change I suppose...
