Edgar Davids played football in glasses for years

There were penalties given in SL last year for hair pulling. Do we think the likes of Mathers/Bailey/Cockayne would be able to resist leaving his eyeware alone?

How can they wear glasses in a game of RL? Football i can see but in rl there is a lot more contact and glasses would be off quickly.

Contacts would be pointless. The problem wasn't his eyesight (IIRC Davids has glaucoma), it was/is Long's ability to close his eye.

But how would glasses help? I thought the problem was that his eye dries out due to not getting the fuild it needs. Are they going to put an eye washer on the inside of the lens

Guess it would be more to stop him getting prodded in it if it doesnt close properly.

Are you sure he wasn't pulling your leg? Remember the Billy Connelly bit about 'prescription windscreens' for cars.



I can't see the RFL approving any head gear with plastic edges. They would have to be made from the same stuff as headguards.

Although in all seriousness Marcus Hahnemann (Wolves goalkeeper) was wearing some yellow tinted contact lenses yesterday which are supposed to act as sun glasses.

Its actually sunglasses during day games because he cant close his eye to the bright light. If its the type with an elastic cord it could work, especially as he doesn't get tackled all that often.

He wasn't wearing them at training the other day in the daylight and managed ok. I think the minor op rectified most of the problem.
