),thought barrow could have sneaked it near the end but the dissalowed try knocked the stuffing out of them neverthe less it was a fantastic effort by the raiders and also a mention must go to the wigan fans who travelled up in great numbers and really got behind their team when it would have been easy to get on their backs and slag them off when being given the runaround by barrow,all in all a great day out and heres hoping the raiders can keep it up against haven on friday

Thanks a lot Wigan fans, was a great day wasnt it? I just hope some of the Barrow people come back to more games now, as we've got a pretty good squad who play good attractive rugby, but are pretty mean in defence too. Was great to see the old ground full up, god knows how they got 22000 in for their record crowd, must have been crazy!!

A big Thanks to everyone at Barrow for a great day one i will not forget for a long time. That will go down as one of my best trips of the season was warmly welcomed at the ground and in Weatherspoons before and after the game you deserve to win the title this year hope to get up there again soon maybe for the Leigh game.

22000 in that ground?

I know, hard to believe but true, was against Salford in the 50s/60s i think. Would be a tad dangerous i think!!

I think the record crowd (just under 22,000) was in the 1930's. However, 20,000+ crowds were fairly regular in the 30's and 50's.

Really hope Barrow go from strength to strength it would be really good for the sport if we had teams from Cumbria in Supadupa league.



I dont know why the RFL dont fast track a Cumbrian team in.



Just one question though, before the game the PA seemed to introduce the Barrow chairman but it was one of the players who waved to the crowd on the pitch and then threw/handed something to a fan in the opposite terrace to the main stand. Is your chairman a player or did i get the wrong end of the stick?

I think that was Ned Catic being introduced as a surprise inclusion in Barrow's 17 mate. He only arrived in the UK on the Saturday and was kept hidden away.
