Quote Anakin Skywalker="Anakin Skywalker"2 more questions if you don't mind.
1 how do we pay for them when you consider that the Aus cap has pretty much doubled overnight, There is the fact that the AUD is far stronger against the GBP, The tax haven loopholes have been shut which when all taken into account would IMHO mean that good players will now cost around 2.5 times more than they did and we have a salary cap to stick too.
2 Don't you think it would be a better idea long term to focus a hell of a lot more on making our homegrown figures and players better as that is proven to be the best idea (Look to Leeds, Saints and Wigan as proof).'"
I thought thats what we were doing with the likes of Taylor and Hodgson who i hope and believe will be offered long term contracts at the club, plus one or two others such as Green and Salter who are on the fringes, but you have to consider the fact that one or two of the younger up and coming players will probably not be quite ready for another season or two, you cant simply throw them in at the deep end and hope for the best.
Therefore in the meantime you need good experienced players who will not only hit the ground running but will also help in the development of the young up and coming players at the club, with regards to players costing more to bring over from the Southern hemisphere, that may be true in the case of the more established players but, as far as i am aware Sandercock is looking at fringe players or players that cannot get first team places in the NRL, in which case they would probably be a much cheaper option.
I believe we need a balanced blend of youth and experience next season, in my opinion this can be achieved by bringing in possibly four or five quality additions while continuing to mature the current crop of youngsters at the club.
