If I was a coach, I'd mention injuries and times where you felt the fifty fifty decisions went against my team.



I'd dress it up as mitigating circumstances.



He could, of course, come out and say something along the lines of; "We were absolute gash today, the players are too stupid to follow the most basic of game plans and despite them having played this sport since the age of seven they still can't do the basics like make an effective tackle or pass the ball from left to right."



Wouldn't do a whole lot for individual confidence or harmony within the group though.

I want Wigan to win, but I wouldn't much begrudge Hull if they did. The lack of interest on the Wigan board is astonishing. Early stages of a new bout of success fatigue, perhaps. If a team whose fans can still get genuinely, cross-your-legs-so-you-don't-wet-yourself excited about these events wins it, that gives some hope to the rest of us. Plus I've got enough friends who'd be way more thrilled than I'll be disappointed. If the worst comes to the worst, just imagine Phil Clarke's face at the final whistle.
