| RL sadly doesnt seem to be catching on in Bridgend to the extent that it warrants a long term superleague club.
I was interested to see that Celtic Crusaders are thinking of playing 'home' games at both Newport and Wrexham in order to try and improve crowds.
Will this work??
I've been to Wrexham twice (the first time I blinked whilst driving along the A5 and missed the exit, so kept on going)
From what I saw the second time I doubt very much that its the sort of place that you could describe as a 'hotbed of Rugby League' I imagine anyone who lives in the area already who likes RL will already be a supporter of St Helens or Warrington. The only good thing about it is its closer to the traditional RL heartland so you would be almost certain to see crowd figures rise. But by how much??? Will the locals take to Rugby league?
As for Newport ..... realistically can you see the supporters of Newport Gwent Dragons turning out on a regular basis to support Celtic Crusaders??? Clearly its a bigger place than Wrexham ....but is the interest there for an RL side???? Geographically its not a million miles from Bridgend.... yet clearly its still in South Wales where the interest doesnt seem particularly strong.
Personally I really like South Wales and the people. But realistically can Celtic Crusaders survive for more than 5 years????
Personally I can see Celtic going the same way as London Broncos. But after a couple of name changes (Wrexham Dragons anyone?) and a couple of relocations I feel the club will lose its SL franchise like London/Harlequins/Crusaders/Broncos should have done about 6 years ago.
Is there a plan in place to try to save Celtic Crusaders???

Which hasn't happened.
A genuine post to try and find out what Celtic Crusaders are going to do about their current situation.

Telling someone to "fook off back to australia is a bigger breach of the AUP. So practise what you preach.

If no one bites will you go back to where you came.
I mean yiour lack of subtlety is pretty pathetic.
thread title Options to try and save celtic crusaders.
Your reply is nothing they are doomed and will dissappear in 6 years.
You are boring , obviously educated but just not very bright.
Should you not be working in some pub in Shepherds bush or trying to surfboard in Newquay.
Just by chance if anyone does view the thread all i can do is make sure that i come down to Celtic to watch the Giants and add to the crowd.
Hopefully all the fans of other clubs who still have to play Celtic will do the same.

I was just interested to see what ideas Celtic Crusaders fans have to improve the chances of the club surviving beyond the next franchise application.
Why would I be working in a pub in Shepherds Bush or surfboarding in Newquay out of interest???

Only the Harlequins one.
For daring to question the wisdom of the fund raising ideas the club mention on their website such as a 'Dance competition' and a Fun 'Day' that lasts for approximately 1 hour.
To be honest being banned from the Harlequins board is actually a blessing in disguise.
The standard of posting was atrocious
I can see why hardly anyone turns up to their games!

We're looking to take on game to Wrexham and you have started a thread on the virtual terrace saying we, along with quins and catalans should be thrown out so it seems you've made your mind up.

| Winning games is the best marketing a club can do.
We've won one game at home so hardly gone overboard on this front. This is why I'm not too worried as if you put Wakey,Quins or Salford at the bottom with one home win they would get similar or a lot less I think.

| Barry, maybe we'll succeed maybe we won't. It's good form though to wait and see rather than write us off this early. Success will bring us more fans than anything and I can see a few things the club could change to enhance the experience for supporters and spectators. Ditch the now almost non-existent "family village" for one. Better to get the all local traders in for the big matches than to have a forlorn bouncy castle and / or ice cream van week in week out. A more permanent set of toilet facilites might be a step forward too. It's not going to draw the fans in granted, but the better experience people have when inside, the more likely they are to come back. A bit of a charm offensive to try and break through the irrational wall of hatred some Union fans have for the game, for events before the Crusaders even existed could help too. I have other ideas regarding the existing supporters too but the Official Supprters Club fatwa on me makes stating them an unwise idea.
