| Hmm, if he's put those things and applauded Leigh scoring then he's dafter than I thought but he's obviously got issues with the club, or certain people within it, and would be better off keeping quiet and letting his playing do the talking.

| Quote Tony Fax="Tony Fax"Well, Sam couldn't get into this so called "poor" team which must make him "worse than poor"? And (as I've just pointed out on another thread), Calland had to be "relieved" from his duties by Brian Noble which doesn't say much for his own coaching abilities either. As they say, "the proof is in the pudding"!'"
Tony, Calland was not relieved from his position due to anything Rugby related, I am sure some people will know why and others will be still in the dark, However, His record speaks for itself, It has been the most exciting time to watch HRLFC in a decade, We won the Grand Finals and were runners up, We smashed teams off the park with some of the most entertaining rugby league in the country, The atmosphere at the ground was fantastic, Some games now there is better atmospheres at Wakes than there is at the shay. Noble was brought in for his defensive work and if i remember correctly, it was to do with off field things like looking at the back room etc and how we could improve on our SL franchise application for the next time round, He was a "consultant".
In my own opinion, Martin Hall and Matt Calland were the best duo ( and lets be honest Martin was still involved even though he threw himself on the sword over the Ostick Challenge cup debacle ) the coaching team had had in years. They recruited the right players and what a team it was.
on a side note, what is Martin Hall up to now does anyone know, is he still in the RL circle ?.

Faxhali, if Calland would have carried on coaching "by himself" we would have been relegated. Believe me. And I totally disagree with your claim that the atmosphere was electric under Calland .... indeed, the atmos was quite sour, in particular with that horror start to the 2011 campaign ....
Toulouse (A) - Lost 26-12
Fev (H) - Lost 32-20
Sheffield (A) - Lost 41-22
Leigh (H) - Lost 32-22
Dewsbury (H) - Won 56-24
Barrow (H) - Lost 43-25
Fev (A) - Lost 30-18
I remember Noble's appointment (round about the Fev away game) being greeted with a resounding "thank god for that" (whether the reason was rugby related or not). So please don't give me your rose tinted specs rubbish.

'Twas no "dancing" matter back then, johnny. Things improved slightly (on the defence!) after Noble jumped on board, as results picked up thus:
Sheffield (H) - Won 14-12 (Attendance 1,700 - what's this electric crowd then?)
Leigh (A) - Won 36-16 (Leigh's first defeat of the season - maybe Charlie remembers)
Hunslet (H) - Won 24-18 (Scored a last minute try to save our blushes!)
Batley (H) - Lost 28-36 (Karl Harrison's team seemed very creative that day against Fax's new "Noble-led" defence)
Dewsbury (A) - Won 30-16 (We were 14 nil down at one stage, and if we had lost that, we would have been in real trouble!)
Barrow (A) - Won 24-16 (After Big Frank had been sent off!)
York (H) - Won 76-38 (Penky ran the show)
Toulouse (H) - Won 44-28 (But they had a perfectly good try disallowed near the end which could have changed things)
Batley (A) - Lost 18-16 (Harrison's team does it again!)
Widnes (H) - Won 26-24 (Tyrer's late run should have snatched it for Widnes)
York (A) - Lost 22-8 (Bad one that, not even a bonus point at lowly York)
Hunslet (A) - Won 34-24 (Real end of season stuff that was)

| I'm sure as Sam matures and moves on he'll reflect on how undignified making rash comments can seem..
I still remember when Rowley went to Hudds he came out with some parting shots in the press, these lads forget that written words in the press or online can come back to haunt you..
Don't burn bridges I think is the most apt saying, Sams a Fax lad, the board, players and coaches may come and go, but the fans usually stay and we've been cheering him and lining his pockets, I hope he remains calm and dignified. If he can sort his head out I'd have no problem with him coming back home one day, there aren't many players who can drag 3 blokes along and then off load, Rhino could do it, and Sam can do it, Rhinos discipline was light years ahead though. Sams probably not peaked yet.
Just to get the thread back on track

| Very disappointing if he really was applauding when Leigh scored. Surely has more respect for his (only just) former team mates than that! You'd think he would anyway.
