Strong case

Like Widnes, Halifax were rejected for a license in 2008, but the reigning Championship title holders think they have made a strong case for a return to Super League, where they played from 1996-2003.



"Everyone is saying that Widnes are favourites but not every favourite wins, do they," club director Mike Riley said.



"Our bid is every bit as good and I would say better, given our performances on the field over the last couple of years."



The licenses will be decided upon by the RFL's five-strong independent board of directors, with specialist contributions from external agencies such as Savills and KPMG.



All existing Super League clubs must submit their applications for new licenses by close of business on Thursday. The full make-up of the league will be revealed on July 26, with two existing clubs possibly being jettisoned to make way for a second Championship club.

Probably not, it seems to have snowballed from some "journalist" making it up to it now being fact...when Richard Lewis said a month or 2 back it's 1 up 1 down.







I wouldn't be, it's just a throw away line to get hits and create debate, it will be 1 up 1 down.



Also, even the RFL aren't dumb enough to throw a team out up the top end of the table, so if the lads keep it up then they wont.



Oh and a replacement for Matterson if he decides to go has been set AND the club are interested in/talking to 2 Wests players for next year.

Of course it's the case, it's always been that the case that 2 could come up. The RFL have said it originally and repeated it consistently. Just like the long running Glasshoughton project, your in complete denial about the reality of the current situation!
