Hopefully this positivity will continue to breed across the club, fans included (even you ME!
). '"
I am sorry but it is difficult to be TOO positive when we still have the coach that we have. We have made some excellent signings, but, IMO, we still have a load of "average" players at the club also. Players like Worrincy, Sheriffe, Reardon, Sculthorpe, Platt etc just are not good enough and although the majority of our first 13 are quality, God knows what will happen if we get a couple of injuries.
We are still poor in the centres/wing position also.
Again though, it really matters not a great deal as, IMO, "the best young coach in Britain" will screw us up again with his inadequacies.

AFAIK, there isn't one squad in SL that has brilliant players right the way through.

There isn't. One person I was chatting to from a club (who I won't name names or club) said it spot on when he said that every team needs to have the odd "average" player in there to stay under the salary cap. If you want the best players, you have to offset that by having an average one on a low wage. Unfortunately, you're going to struggle to get 17 best players.
We have the likes of Sheriffe, Platt & Sykes. Leeds have Ablett, Kirke & Bailey. Saints with Fozzard, Hargreaves, Clough. Wigan have Hansen, Coley & Prescott.
All players that can do very well on their day. However if there was no salary cap, I don't think you'd be seeing those players in a first choice 17 at a big club.
Sure, there are some clubs that seem to have a higher salary cap than others, but everyone has to play ball, and that means having to have the likes of Sheriffe & Platt in the 17 in order to have people like Orford and Menzies.

| New season and a new core to the team. We've made changes to most of our key positions and overall I think our squad is better and certainly a bit more balanced. Our start really is crucial and we have some very tough opening games, but if we get off to a flyer it should bring some much needed positivity to the club.
I can't wait for the season to kick off, let's just hope we have a few more 'highs' this year!

I notice you name Reardon and Sculthorpe as two who are 'not good enough'. So you're the coach of the Bulls (heaven help us) who would you have brought in instead of? I can't think of many wingers and props who were up for grabs. I'm not sure whether Sculthorpe will work out, but I think Reardon is potentially a very good signing.

Indeed we do have a tight salary cap. Therefore we should not be wasting part of it on people like Worrincy and Sculthorpe who should never have been signed in the first place. That is my point.

I would have taken Paul King over Sculthorpe for starters.
As for Reardon?? If you reckon an injury prone has been with off-field issues is a potentially good signing then perhaps you should not be mocking others. People in glass houses and all that......

Paul King
Yes I expect you would have been on here singing the clubs praises if we had landed his prize signature. At least other clubs were interested in Sculthorpe, Nathan Brown certainly didn't want to lose him.
Paul King is hardly injury free either, so I am pretty confident he won't be one we regret missing out on.
And yes 'potentially' I feel Reardon may turn out well [iif[/i he can come back from his injuries.
