As more and more teams go all-seater, we have a potential asset: a historic ground with great swathes of terraces. I truly believe that if we hold our nerve, we can offer an experience that is rapidly disappearing from view in league and football alike.

| I've often thought about Odsal being a live music venue, has our stadium ever staged any live music before? The layout of the stadium would be perfect for something similar to what you see at the Old Trafford cricket ground.
By having the stage at the Rooley end of the ground you could have pitch level standing, the family stand and terraces which could be sold as general admission. Hell, we could even use the Coral Stand and charge a bit more to sit in one of the boxes and have a prawn sandwich.
I'm sure the club have considered it as an option of increasing revenue during the off season (e.g Monster Truck Show) or during a break in the season where we are away from home for say 2 weeks.

This is a very good point! Make it a sort of living museum to show the future generations what they have missed out on with their plastic stadiums etc....

Totally agree. All the ground needs is a cover/roof over the pop side then leave it as it is. (maybe a new clubhouse and bar too)

| Trouble is, live music is very loud, and you've got housing near by. I'm sure there's rules in place about that sort of thing.

No. If you've ever been to a gig at a sports ground, you'll see they bring in a special flooring to cover the pitch.

| Didn't the Arctic Monkey's gig ruin Old Trafford CG?
But yeah, live music would be a good money spinner (I guess!). Headingley CG got a license for live music, but with a rather low capacity - possibly reflecting the residential nature of the surrounding area.
A roof and the Rooley Ave end being closer to the pitch would be nice though.

Lancashire CCC got into some trouble I think about the pitch. I was at that gig and what happend was that was not nearly enough toilets and people (mostly yobbo types) were peeing on the side of the pitch. Some idiots were doing their business into plastic beer glasses and launching them into the crowd.
England played a game a few weeks later I recall, and the pitch was still brown.

Yeah, it was, but only for a minute or so then there was a long gap. Loud music sort of seems to go on...and on.........and on......
[size=50and often seems to be less musical than the speedway[/size

| I would never go to a gig at Odsal because the acoustics would be horrible, Odsals shape doesn't help it.nNot a dig at Odasl it just wasn't designed to be a music venue.

| I also thought that when I posted my thoughts on the live music idea. The acoustics of the stadium would be a nightmare although the layout is fairly similar to the modern day arenas. The only difference being that the sound would just escape due to the stadium not having a roof.
I seem to remember Huddersfield putting on a few gigs during the 90's and Elland Road seems to have something on every other year. I do feel the club should look into it as I imagine the interest would be fairly large (with the stadium being very close to the motorway etc). Get something sorted before Leeds get their arena built.
