| Quote mat="mat"If thats the case then fair enough. didnt realise that you can register a player for cup before the signing is completed and he's registered as your clubs player in league.
although having just read the relevent rule it states that the player has to be correctly registered and eligible to play for the club in their normal league competition. So I dont see how you can register a player for cup when they are still registered for another club in the league competition in the gleason/mathers case.'"
They would have been registered for the league prior to the deals being completed as well to allow for it. A player doesn't need to be employed by a club for them to hold his registration (Leeds for example held Iestyn Harris's RL registration during his time in RU) so both clubs would have agreed to allow the other to gain the registration for Mathers/Gleeson. The RL registrations would have been switched with neither playing at all in the intervening period before the transfers were completed.

| Bit harsh, especially after the situation with Hull last year. Still, how stupid were they to let this player play ?

| Hull FC should have been expelled from the competition. There were plenty of precedents for this within the game.
=#FF0000edit: be very careful about unfounded and false accusations which risk putting yourself (which tbh I don't care about) or this site (which I do) at risk of legal action. tb.
It is harsh on Halifax but the RFL really does need to pull it's finger out and be proactive rather than simply blame the clubs.

The Acceptable Usage Policy is non-negotiable, and all decisions of the Admin Team are final.
All of us involved in RLFANS - the Admin Team, forum moderators, site editors, and other contributors - take this site seriously and are proud of how popular it has become.
This site costs several thousands of pounds per year to run and these rules have been developed over several years in order to protect both the site and its members. Nobody makes any money from RLFANS, we are all just volunteers who give up our time and energy for nothing other than to support our game.
There are two options for anyone using the site: either follow the rules, whether you like them or not, or stay away.

Our friend Scanners has chosen the second option. So it's goodbye from him.

Typical RFL bias against CC clubs!

Or just working to the new rules introduced [iafter[/i Hull's cock-up.
The RFL wanted to throw us out as well. It transpired that they couldn't because no such penalty was actually mandated in the rules. They hit us with a big fine instead and changed the rules so that next time they could expel a club that broke them.
Tough luck on Fax but no bias from the RFL.

| So RFL have got away with this. No systematic check on whether players are all eligible, just hope someone spots it and emails them in time. Pathetic from them and unless I've missed it, pathetic from the RL press who seem to have failed to press this point. No systematic check means the possibility of a team making it to the final or even winning it and then having to be recalled. And a simple spreadsheet would sort it all out.
